Woke up this morning and the dealer called me up and said they had just gotten a i4 edrive35 over night … come check it out. 2 hours later we bought it. We did not have much of a choice in equipment but it had all the inportant things like Driver Assist, Park Assist, HK Sound…. We are still working through idrive 8, I’m a creature of habit, the previous version made more sense 🤪.

Very nice! Congrats! I also bought my i4 from BMW of Midlo back in August - Aaron/Alex/Balaji. I see Alex's M5 Comp in the background .

Yes the usual suspects prowling the showroom in Midlo :-) Sweet ride you have there. This is my first full electric, had a few PHEVs but it was not quite the same. A little nervous going on trips with it (range anxiety) for now we still have the X7 M50 for our that. Have you taken it out of town much?

Congratulations. Your car looks great! I see you had a 330e and so do i. I too have a I4 edrive35 on order. (estimated delevry in may)
Can you please tell me how the driving impressions compare to the 330e and does your 2023 I4 came with a stick shift or it was replaced with buttons instead? (BMW canadian configurator shows buttons instead of stickshift now).
Thank you for sharing your experience.

Amazing how ppl have been waiting for 6, 12, 18 months for cars and the e35 just came out and you have one already!

I just looked up the curb weight to compare:
e35 4553
e40 4684 .........(+131)
M50 5018 ...!!....(+565)

Hello neighbor from up north :-) Yep I had the 2017 and 2021 330e and was always hoping it had a little more electric range. May.. agh seems so long away. I'm not one to order anything, the anxiety would just finish me off first. Instead i like to work the aisles of the dealer and if magicaly they have some unit they "forgot" about, then that one is for me

In regards to your question, after 48 hours, I got to say I miss my buttons, especially favorites. There is a lot going on with ID 8, but interesting enough the layout is similar to ID 6 (I think that is what it is, nevertheless what is in the 2021 X1), just with updated graphics and larger screen. The drive in the I4 feels a whole lot nicer than the electric drive on the 330e. It is preppy and has ample power. I never test drove the 40 (so I won't regret not getting that instead), but the 35 feels like it has plenty of zip and compared to the 330e electric and gas combined, you will be so much more happier.

Mine still has the shift knob. I don't know when my manufacturer date on mine is, except it got delivered to the dealer Sunday night. If you like nice tunes I hope you have HK in your build as BMW is notorious for providing LO-FI sound from their HI-FI system. I am very impressed with the new HK system in this one. It is soooooo much better than the one in the 330e, X5 45e and my current X7. In my X5 and X7 I swapped the subs and speakers out with bavsound and it greatly improved the quality. With this system I am not even thinking about trying to find an alternative. Just be sure to tune it first before you poo poo it like I did initially.

I don't have much info on the mileage yet. Only have 150 miles on it. I leave it on sports mode and am getting between 3 - 3.9 miles per kwH. I am not trying to push it for every mile just yet. I do wish it came with the 18" wheels vs 19s. I'm not too much a wheel guy and would have preferred the 20 mile extra in range.

Hope it helps. Drop me a DM if you lhave any questions or need more pictures.

heatmizr Yeah I know right. If you look on the long list of cars I have had, not one have I ever special ordered. I inquired about this one with my dealer a week before it arrived. There was no real intent yet to buy at the time. I looked at some numbers but was not over the moon with it. I told them I would pass. They offered to call me to come check it out when it came in if it had not sold by then. They texted me Monday morning and you know the rest of the story. With the 7500 BMW FS incentive it was hard to say no once I saw and test drove it.

The other dealer in my town also has one with less options in it and has been on the lot for about 2 weeks now. At the time when I got mine it was still available.

Thank you soo much for your excellent feedback. The 330e is the best car i ever drove so your valuable review just reassured me a lot.
In canada the I4 was just named car of the year from the journalist association AJAC.https://www.newswire.ca/news-release...813124108.html
I once drove my friend 750 and the HK radio in it was just incredible. Nothing could have come close to it. Unfortunatly i did not order this option (came as a packge) but i believe you that it's just impressive.
Please keep posting any info on your car. I will follow with lot of interest. Congratulations again.

Nice review!

I went from an i3 >> 330e. I was so disappointed in the electric drive. The 330e just felt slow off the line and felt very limited in acceleration. Any acceleration that was more aggressive would quickly kick in the gas engine.

I haven't test drove the eDrive35, but I don't expect it to be similar to the eDrive40, just a tad bit slower. You'll feel the consistent push the entire time.

Glad to hear the HK was good.

I'm a total wheels guy and actually like the wheels. Think I was turned off by many of the initial pics of the i4 in white with the blue trim. Just not my thing. Much rather see a bunch of i4 with these wheels than the Tesla Model 3 with their ugly black wheel/hubs? The 20" Uberturbine ones look nice.

To whoever was asking, from what has been posted here and ******, they are going to start installing the new shifter BUTTONS starting in beginning of March. If this is accurate, no one here has an i4 with the button shifters yet. We'll have to wait until they get delivered for a hands on review.

mtech8 Agreed there is no kick on the electric drive on the 330e. This was true for both years I had it. Driving the electric drive on the 330e is more like driving it in super eco pro mode where the car moves but that is about it. The transition to ICE on the 2021 was much smoother IMO than the 2017 and barely noticeable.

My wheel requirements are, are they round? can I put all seasons?

I had 22" on our X7 and I traded it with a forum member for their 21"s so I could get all seasons. I do miss the look no doubt. I traded it for utility more than anything else. Now I will say though on these 19"s I have a lot of folks making comments on it (good ones), I suppose because it looks so different.

The 330e G20 has limited electric power. Agree. But when combine with engine, sports settings, quick launch, it shows a 5.2 sec 0/60 and 13.5 quarter miles, wich i consider fast enough. The I4 100% electric will sureley be more usefull with instant accelaration in emergency situation.
I think the I4 edrive35 should have simmilar accelation time but quicker response time compare to a 330e G20.

LOL soo funny. Because you know me too i didn't like it at first and i placed the order without the blue line but then after seeing all the review in this color......it got to me. I changed the order to exactly has i see it in every publicity : (white blue trim beige interior and stainless window trim.) Soo funny. But i have to say that the black one really looks good in picture.
