System shutdown when driving

I was just driving my car home and there was a warning ping from the car and the driver display (dashboard) went blank, the middle display put up a message and then all the dash warning lights lit up and the dash returned. It felt like the car was in limp mode (of old) but it could have been me just coaxing the car to the nearest safe place to stop.

I mistakenly pressed the close message tab so cannot retrieve the message (any ideas?)

I switched the engine (I know) off and then turned it back on again and drove the remaining part of the journey with no issues or obvious power loss.

Has this happened to anyone else??

Being that it is Xmas Eve, I don't see the point in calling the dealer.

Sorry to hear you have had an issue.

It sounds like the following:

UK Technical Enhancement Recall 0061400700
https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1977585

The following links in the post should be useful if you enter your VIN

https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/footer/quic...e-recalls.html
https://bmw-recall-tool.netlify.app/

Some have had the update applied and mine is booked in for the middle of Jan.

It takes about an hour from owner comments, but they have asked for it for the entire day and it is holding up delivery of new vehicles as it takes BMW 24 hours to update the recall status and they cannot release vehicles with an outstanding recall, but we can drive round with this one.

NB: It seems from your issue/post that you have an iX3, but your profile currently states BMW X3 2.0d MSport (2018).

Thanks for replying.

I did check the recall page and my car does show as needing it.

I will also update my profile to reflect my now 6 month old iX3 MSport Pro.

Have loved every one of the 6k I’ve driven so far, other than the 15 - 30 seconds today
