Hey guys, Perth Western Australia here.

I thought I would also start an AU thread so we don't get lost amongst the masses

Late to the party here. Wanted to order an i4 M50 but new orders are already at April 2023.
Decided on an i4 eDrive 40 M Sport, Mineral White fully loaded with black Venasca leather. I initially wanted the Oyster leather however the only options with ventilated seats were black or mocha.

I was initially told due to the popularity of the M50 , the chances of getting an eD 40 into production by July this year was highly probable. When I put pen to paper, I was then told there is no ETA on production, possibly 31/12/22.

Any else here in Australia with more a recently order.

Im totally jealous at this stage. Haha. How long ago did you order? I am guessing you're a pre-order from last year.

Definitely got the bases covered with features. All the specs will be delivered HUD, Radar Cruise etc. My dealership assured me that all high end BMW won't have features removed. (I did however put that condition) on my contract. I have an out clause if they start deleting options. I am pretty specific about what I have to have at a minimum.

Happy days ahead for you

Garage List
I ordered mine a year ago before they had a target delivery date. I collected it here in Canberra on 11 March. Feeling very smug now driving around on solar energy.

Delivered: 2022 BMW i4 eDrive40 M Sport Mineral White, Fully Optioned

Totally jealous. I was a late comer, it was only by accident that I bought one haha. Now a few weeks in and already feeling impatient.

My order has been finalised, fully option Mineral White, with seats in black with blue stitching. Ditched ventilated seats as it was too restrictive to what else I could option.

They are still saying early Q4

Went to go see if we could test drive a i4 today at Sydney BMW.
None available, next dealer demo not available until early May, so we will be back then.
If you place an order today, it will be a May 2023 production for August delivery!!!!! Plus no discounting...

Luckily I scraped in to 2022. To be honest I'm not sure why BMW even launched the IX and I4 this year.

They seem to not even come close to matching demand in already stalled market

The dealer was telling us that the Australian allocation is really small from BMW, I guess they are not prioritising our market.

I think from an EV perspective, infrastructure, government rebates etc... from what I have read we are so behind other countries.

Yeah possibly. I was told by my dealer similar however more a case of same general allotments (which is always smaller for Australia) but we generally do get priority based on how high spec'd our vehicles are compare to that of the US and UK

Not to mention higher margins

TBH I was lead astray with my order. They wanted my G20 and I was told production would commence June 22. When I went to sign the OTA. It was estimated 12/22.

Fortunately, I put a caveat on my OTA that if I don't have it delivered or at least in production by Q4 then I have the option to walk.

Congrats on the car! It is a stunning car in real life.

We have yet to make an order, as there was none to test drive.
Next dealer car is coming early May so we said we would come back for the test drive before we made the final decision, esp since we've never driven an electric car.

Did you test drive at all?

Also they said no negotiation what so ever.... times have changed since we brought our X5 last year.

I have secured a build slot for delivery in April 2023. i4 eDrive 40 - Sanremo green, mocha interior with comfort, visibility and executive packages.

Can anyone suggest some good YouTube videos so I can continue torturing myself?

Congrats

Can I ask what state you are based in?

I ordered a fully loaded mineral white eDrive40 in early March and was told it would go into production June/July , when I signed the following day I was told by December this year.

But still haven't been giving an actual build slot as I've told these haven't been released by BMWAUS yet and they're still waiting

As for YouTube videos just do what I do and work through the list lol and get surprised when an new one gets uploaded haha

I’m in the ACT. I chose April 2023 to coincide with the end of my 330e lease. The Sales Exec said they’d secure the slot depending on supply constraints and the situation in Europe.

I like the videos from JP Dunphy at BMW of Fort Washington, Jack Scarlett at Fully Charged Show and Joe Achilles. I’m looking for recommendations of intelligent videos by people who know EVs.
