Performance Center Delivery Anyone?

Is anyone considering or will schedule PCD? Especially with the free Electrify America charging, it could be a viable option.

Thoughts?

You can technically do it, there are electrify America chargers along the way on major highways. I'm curious what your thoughts will be after you do it!

However, have you had an Ev before ? If not, wouldn't this be quite an endeavor for a new EV driver ?

Yes, mine is set to go to the PC in Greer for delivery.... I'm looking forward to the trip and comparing the charging stops with my Tesla along the same route home.

I'm going to do performance center delivery. I've planned the route back to northern Virginia. It does not look like that big of a deal. Charge 3 times. It is my first EV so I'm giving myself plenty of buffer for each charge stop. I'm planning on arriving with 30% charge at each stop. Looks like I'm going to be spending 60 minutes total charging at electrify America in Walmart parking lots.

Not first time EV owner. Had 2 already. I checked out an Electrify America stop at Walmart between Houston and Dallas. Empty and operational.

I LOVE this app : https://abetterrouteplanner.com/

I planned mine from the SC delivery center and it looks 100% doable to Tampa Bay FL.

I'd recommend just taking 85 all the way up to 95.... going 77 to 81 can be done pretty easily in a Tesla, but CCS chargers are out of the way.... and going up the mountain at the VA/NC border will really chew range.

+1 for ABRP.... they even have some early estimates in the tool for the i4.

April 12 build date. Hope to see it mid late May at PC in SC. Atlanta is within striking distance of Greenville on a single charge.

I'm spoiled because I'm in Atlanta. The only negative is that I need to probably rent a car if I end up going with my son over my wife.

Just a heads up. In SC right now there are no i4s in their fleet. They will sub a 4 series for the track portion.

May 19 is my day to receive.

Thought about it but worried about road chips and bugs being splattered around in my 900 mile trip before I get my PPF. Add the additional 2 wk wait time to deliver, id probably skip.

For last delivery I used Extreme Colors and had car wrapped up there. Totally not worth it. The film will hide most stuff anyway.

So are you saying that its not worth going with Extreme Colors or not going with PPF at all? As much as i love to track, i was going to do the Indy track day when i get my M3 which is much closer than The PDC and saves me a 14 hr drive !!!

Not exactly. PCD is fun and much better way to take delivery of your car. BMW does a fantastic job of making it a trip you won’t soon forget. Plus you get someone to walk you through the car on day 1, not after a week. And I loved spending time with the car on the journey home. But if you are concerned about the trip back and wear to your car potentially you can get PPF done in Spartanburg by Extreme Colors. They do, or did, the cars for BMW and did my last delivery. I had to spend an additional night but it was worth it. However, there was a small issue with the film that did not smooth out. So I had to go back to have it fixed. Much easier for me than it would be for you.

Just trying to give you some options.

I’m having Extreme Color do a full PPF+ceramic on mine right after delivery. They’re quoting two days to do it all, so hopefully I can pickup on a Monday and get headed south toward home on Wednesday…. But, it’s gotta get across the pond first… stuck at port for the last week or so.

Would be share roughly how much they r quoting for a full wrap? I have a local detailer who is very good and was hoping to get it done with them but PCD does sound fun.
