iDrive 8 overview on the i4 M50

Basically a facelift of iDrive 7 + a few features specific to electric cars. I'm struggling to see any innovation here.

Seems to me the presenter needs more training to do a better job of showcasing the system. I have a feeling I haven't seen the whole thing yet.... the speaking assistant for instance. Isn't that one of the big selling points? Will probably underwhelm once I see it in action, but the thing is the guy have not even touched on that feature one bit.

Great to see that you can change the dash view. And in the press releases they informed that more will come later

At least they kept the physical buttons on the steering wheel.

Very interested to try this system out in person. While I'm glad they kept the scroll wheel, they pushed more content into different submenus, especially the HVAC controls.

I noticed on my i3 this is just something i noticed but i change my temperature by 1c from winter to summer and vice versa.

I put 21c in the winter and 20c in the summer on it because the heat-pump working in the car in combination with the preheating/cooling system is so well made that it seems like you don't have to use any other temperature in the car cause during summer its freezing cold even though its 21c and in the winter it is plenty warm.

But when looking at the pictures they released for the interior you can see for example they kept buttons for max ac, maximum window defrosting and back window defrosting. These three button i have learned is your best friend in the i3 during all the different weather.

But i do hope with the new i drive and updates along the line it will be something like the android system, so you can leave feedback to BMW for fast menus and such stuff that you can access with ease without going to bunch of menus like with the 1-9 buttons in the car that you can hotkey for a certain menu so you don't have to scroll thru everything.
