Stonechips!!
I've only done about 1500miles and I already have 5 stonechips in the front bumper. I can't imagine what it's going to look like after 10kmiles. My previous cars were not this easily chipped. Is BMW paint really soft?, kinda regret not having PPF now.

Yeah. PPF is a good idea even if it just the front.

I did whole car with suntek at a place in Ascot. Not the cheapest but having seen what you get at the cheap end of the market I'm very happy with the results.

With environmentally safe paint being used nowadays by pretty much all manufacturers, I will always get protective film for at least the front of my sport cars.

The more I see of this, the more likely I am to to stop by the Xpel shop that's 10 miles from my dealer. Will it be horrible to wait all this time for the car only to NOT drive it for the 3 1/2 hours it takes to apply and dry the mask? Sure. Will I be thrilled with spending the money after writing a check for $60 to the dealer? Surely not.
Is it the smart thing to do? I think so........

For me, the PPF is one of those expenditures that's hard to get excited about but I'm sure glad I did it. Its like putting a new roof on your house when you'd rather be using the money to deck out your garage. You just gotta suck it up and do it, even if it's a few grand for something you will never see and will kind of forget is even there. it's so much better than chasing every new rock chip with the touch up pen.

Since I'm driving 700 miles back home after PCD, I made an appointment at Extreme Colors in Greenville to have their "highway" package installed - basically covers the front and mirrors. Solid investment considering I plan to keep the car for a long time.

I live in AZ and PPF is really mandatory if you want to have a intact finish for more than an couple of thousand miles. I had the entire front of my car and the rockers done in Xpel Ultimate, for those with concerns about transparency, there should be none for Xpel Ultimate at least. I coated the entire car in Cquartz UK to help make it blend but it was not needed really. I had the entire hood done in Xpel so the lack of a seam really helps. I have yet to have anyone be able to tell there is a PFF on my car.

2k miles and mine is really bad. I should have gotten ppf immediately. It's like 2 years of rock chips in 2 months. Had no idea it would build up damage this quickly.
