Scuffed the bottom due to a water drain divit. Thanks Colorado!
Yeah, so in Colorado, the divits on the side of the road are deep as hell, and they run across the street where they connect together.
Didn't even feel anything, but while detailing my car today, I noticed there is a scrape on the bottom of the bumper that removed about half a millimeter into the paint. I'm incredibly furious. It is not super noticeable but I am beyond pissed off. Is there anything I can do? I can post pics tomorrow. It just shaved off about .5 of a miltimeter of my front bumper, about an inch wide. Please, any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

Is it under the front bumper where you would have to look under the car to see it? Or is it more noticeable? Pics would help.
BTW, that was your 2000th post...Congrats!

Man sorry to hear this!! That totally sucks. Did a similar thing to my older M3. Ran right over the parking block like a total freaking idiot. I had the dealer repaint it. You may want to take it to a detailer and see if they can do anything?

That sucks. Super good thing your car wasn't lowered!
Couldn't have happened to a better spot, tho. Looks like you could razor blade off the plastic fragments and then buff it and have it repainted. Only you will know/notice it. |

Thats sucks big time. Wait till you get your first stone chip too. My m235i had small scuffing under the bumper similar to that. The dealer just sanded it down and you can't even tell unless you run your fingers over it.
Maybe thats the low cost option here? Best to have a word with them and see what they suggest. The things that really piss you off is when others damage your car. Had some kids throwing stones off a rail bridge near me and have a nice gouge in my boot lid and spoiler as a memento. |

Oh man that sucks!
I had it happen to my Z4MC once and looked similar to that - was about 1/2" in length. I used an xacto knife to carefully trim of the plastic bits (make sure not to cut into the bumper, leave a small nub sticking out for each piece) then sanded it down and finished with wet sanding. Since I couldn't really see it, I never bother getting it repainted. |

Sell it! Immediately!! It's a POS now.
Just kidding. I feel for you... the first ding hurts the most. Good that it is hidden to human eyes. I had some scrapes at the bottom of my front bumper on my 135i. Still bugs me whenever I wash it, but mostly I forget about it now. I wondered about getting a rock chip protection layer down there (that I would never ever put on my hood!) to add protection to the area most will never see. Edit: Looking at the photo, I guess it is not so hidden after all! That really sucks!! Hopefully the touch up paint and a sand block can work some miracles. |

Thanks for all the advice guys, I will bring it to a body shop and see what they say.
Really wish it didn't happen, but there's nothing I can do. These water drains are shaped like a V and they are deep. It's not super noticeable unless you are close up, but as I'm sure you guys can understand, it's the first thing I look at when I look at the car. I'll definitely get cheaper front splitter when one becomes available. Glad that people seem to think this is at least fixable to the point where only I could tell.

Do you have a Porter Cable?
You might be able to buff down some of the edges of where the paint was sawed off - of course it won't fix it, but it might help a bit to smooth it out. I got a rock chip on my Ducati (3rd day of ownership lol) and using the PC helped reduce how badly it seemed to stick out. Like others said above, given the location of where it happened, that's not too awful and that area of the car is going to be in the "line of fire" anyway. I don't think Xpel would have saved you either - but if you don't mind spending the dough, just get a shop to paint it for you.

The worst feeling is when it was some boneheaded thing you did (like in my case, miscalculating the clearance on a parking curb) that you beat yourself up for every time you walk to your car - but you can't change the past. Hopefully you can get it fixed to be almost invisible, then the sick feeling will fade. |

It could be worse... some lady rear ended me yesterday in traffic. A light tap but there are scratches and a few chips on the rear bumper. I almost strangled this girl....

Honestly, I think you should seek therapy.
Incredibly pissed off, beyond furious? Asking for advice on how to deal with a VERY minor scrap on the chin spoiler? Is this your first car or something? Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.
