Wow. Well, I guess the new Supra is NOT a Z4M coupe after all...
Toyota now saying a manual option might be in the cards. Hasn't yet been decided.

Edit: This car is so clearly a re-badged Z4 Coupe, NOT an M Coupe. Slightly underpowered, but great chassis potential with some upgrades.

But - wherever I read this news, the manual would not be coming to America (or presumably Canada).

This really bugs me. Initially Toyota said they didn't develop a manual because the action would be to heavy to accommodate the torque produced by the inline 6 (malarkey) - now they're saying that wasn't true (I guess), but the stick is RHD only...

This is the weirdest product launch. I hope the Supra got good Toyota engineering talent because it doesn't seem like it got their A-list product managers...

EDIT: I don't mean to hate on a new and exciting product - just seems like there's missing opportunities to market to the enthusiasts that made the SUPRA brand famous.

Great, so the Supra is roughly equivalent to a regular Z4 Coupe. Now, where's the M version with an S55?

Edit: Now in the BMW Parts Catalog at RealOEM. Almost (?) everything on this car is made by BMW.

Toyota has stolen our Z4 mojo. They get a real coupe that also looks like a Z4.
Meanwhile, BMW Z4 fans have been left with something Frankenstein's kid squashed together from his matchbox collection. Makes me sad.

Actually, I just realised the full inverted reality:
* Toyota got a BMW Z4 coupe.
* BMW got a Toyota.

Fingers crossed for a manual version - otherwise I'll be keeping my E86 forever.
