Yellow Headlights

Does anyone else live in Southern California? Do you have problems with your headlights turning yellow?

I get mine polished, looking brand new, and within a few months they're turning yellow and looking faded again. Any idea what the problem is? I've tried using headlight sealant to protect them, but no good.

With or without protection, they turn yellow and have to be sanded down again. It's very frustrating, if anyone has any solutions I'd love to hear them!

Yeah I also live in Socal. The Socal sun has been really intense, made my headlights lens turn completely yellow! Just kidding! If you wet sand them, then give it a good polish and then apply a clear adhesive, it will prevent oxidation/yellowing/hazy headlight lens!

There is no more UV coating left on the lens hence the yellowing.

Get some 2K clear and use that to reclear the headlights.

I would second putting clearcoat with UV blocker on the lights. Put on a couple light coats and it should look fine. If you want more protection on top of that, put Lamin-X film over the lights.

+1 for clearcoat w/ UV blockers. All you're doing is the temporary fix peddled to you by auto parts stores when in reality they all miss a vital step in preventing reoccurrence.

When that happened to my OE headlights on the Z4, I used McGuiar’s Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit. I then used the coating provided in that kit. After letting it dry for 24 hours, I installed the Lamin-X clear films. No more yellowing
