when I went from Sentra SpecV to the Z4, my insurance dropped a few dollars... It looks it had to do with the fact that Z4 don't get stolen as much as a Nissan....

When I was comparing insurance premiums last year, it would have cost me more to insure an 06 Mazda 3 or Scion tC versus my 2003 2.5i. Go figure eh? I think they do base the premiums on the reports that Z4s don't get stolen as much, and have less wrecks/accidents reported per number of registered vehicles.

$234 a month seems to be alot for insurance. I'm guessing you're in your early 20's. Look forward to a huge insurance drop when you hit 25. Me, I'm 25 and pay about $86/month -- down from $133/month

Be glad you're not getting an IS300. I hear that car ihas one of the highest insurance premium indexes.

Even so neighbor... I am only 23 and I only pay $125 a month on my '07. I don't even pay $200 for insurance on my winter car, my motorcycle and my Z put together!

I can't wait till I hit 25... actually I can't wait until my car payments are done

I listed my 17 year old daughter as primary driver on the Z4M as it was cheaper than listing her as primary on the 05 Pacifica, or my wife's 06 530xi. I don't understand, but I'm not complaining.

My insurance on the Z4M dropped $34/6 months from the previous 2000 328ci. Go figure!

Now that is a feat! A 17 year old girl is cheaper on an M than a Pacifica.... And I thought I had got a good deal... thanks for bursting my bubble

I dropped by $220 to $461/6 mo going from a 2005 Honda S2000 to my Z4 Coupe.

Hard to complain about a %30 decrease in the premium

I'm a little ticked right now, 2 vehicles (an S-10 pickup) and the 03 Z4, fully covered $500 deductible and i'm at $230 a month. 26 too, with i'm pretty certain one speeding ticket (got it in germany) on my record. I asked the insurance and they basically told me it's so high due to the accident rates in Vegas. I'm with USAA atm, but I might try to go back to state farm.

My boss just moved from our small town to a much larger town (San Jose, CA) and his insurance premiums doubled for basically the same reason.

Pemco has pretty good rates as well, except the only catch is that they are rather strict on how much you claim. If you get into one too many accidents, then they will kick you off -- happened to someone I knew when they got into their second collision. They have low rates because they insure low-risk drivers.

Here's a funny thing though. When I was signing up for my policy last year, the representative thought I was registering a Z3, and informed me that this car was restricted for someone in my age bracket (24 at the time). However, I corrected him and said it was a Z4 and he said that car was fine. I didn't bother asking why there was a restriction. Does a Z3 carry a higher risk potential or something? Oh well, who knows. But in the end it worked out and now I'm a happy driver

Ha, I don't know about that. It was pretty much just a new body style at that point wasn't it? Insurance is weird like that. It would be cheaper for me to insure a new R1 (1000 cc bike) than it would for me to insure a Kawasaki 6R (600 cc bike). That doesn't make sense to me either.

A little advice for the young guys, Your credit score affects the cost of many things in life including insurance. We insure an 05 F150, 06 Volvo SC70 and a 07 Z4 for less than $2,000 per year. It also helps to ask for a higher deductable. The Z cost $612 per year. GH
