I like the look of the NISMO 350's, but I cannot honestly count on one hand the number of 350Z's that I have schooled. Plenty of kids in their "tuned" 350Z's pull up and get schooled by a stock Z4 3.0i (oh, wait, I put a hi-flow air filter in the box)...

The best for me is once I hit 120 and they just can't hang. I slow down, wait for them to catch up, then do it all over again just so they know it's not a fluke. Nissan makes nice cars, no doubt, but they'll never, ever be a BMW. In this case, even when the 350 turns into a 400, the only thing I would do is go buy a Z4M (but only if they ever make it in Urban Green).

Awesome story though. I it when they know before you have to show...

To the OP - nice story. Bit sad you got a kick out of showing off your M to them afterwards though.

I'm picking up a Z4 next week. A small little 2.5 '05. I drove the M's and well ...they just don't do it for me - cpe or rdst. I think its just BMW's inability to produce any low end torque. Same with the 350Z. I was running 8-9PSI and car just was a slug from a standstill...

The Corvettes though ... wow! Especially my Z06

the only reason i got a kick out of it was because they made fun of me when i was in the slower car. If they werent assholes. I would have been on my way... right? I can see what you mean about TQ with the N/A motor tho. After driving the 335i with procede alot my M feels like an S2K waiting for that kick now. Its not as noticable to me as it used to be. Damn that 335i...

I usually only park next to a curb, usually parallel but if I have to get in a parking lot I will just park as close to a curb as possible, no matter how far away the closest curb spot is.

hey, I think my 328i is pretty quick. Granted not as fast as a 350z but what is all this talk of real japanese sports car?

I like the 350z, friend owns one. But the real japanese sports cars died long ago. The Supra, 300zx, RX7.

I agree. Punk kids are punk kids...I would have laughed at them as well.

In the Z06 I don't run people on the streets unless I know they have something worth running against. Plus, in VA speeding is a crazy fee/fine now. Jailtime crazy!

I agree with the except for the fact that the Nissan Skyline GT-R is being released in the US in 2009 or 2010, I can't remember which one. It is just going to be called the Nissan GT from what I have heard.

Anyways, back on topic... I find it hard to imagine that the 3.0i (heck I drive one), is faster than the 350Z. 220hp vs 280hp... Does the difference in weight account for that much that we can pull on 350Z's all day long?

I would have figured they'd be more on par...

Anyways... I agree with having low end torque... its a real blast and i love my big turbo'd jetta. Can't wait til I supercharge the Z4.

It probably comes down to the drivers... I have driven both of these cars back to back, they are very close in performance, as I recall my subscription to Consumer Reports online had them both testing at the exact same times 0-60. And let's keep things in perspective—the Nissan is coming to market at about $10K less. It's not a BMW, but the 350Z is a hell of a lot of sports car for the dollar.

I saw a full Nismo Z (exterior at least) in my town this weekend. I raced him from 30-60 and pulled about half a car... and then realized I was doing 30 over and decided to slow down.

Those Nismos sure look sweet. Very bad ass car. Too bad with all the Nismo parts it is just as much if not more expensive than a 3.0si
