You know, I thought this a lot when choosing the ratio, and settle on 4.1. Now I think 3.91 might be a better compromise… and, you can still go to a 12% increase by changing tire size down to 40/35 from 45/40.

A 3.91 is 8% increase, tire size is 4%, and 4.1 is 13%.

I rebuilt my diff a couple of yrs ago and swapped out the stock gearing for 3:91 gears, I do like the quicker take offs but I'm wishing now that I had gone with the 4:10 instead.

4.10s is more fun and better ‘bang for buck’. The only time 3.91 is better is when you’re on the highway. Cruising at 70-75mph no longer feels like cruising. But just comes down to what you want, but the M won’t ever feel tame with 4.10s.
