My opinion: unless you're going to track the car, or otherwise drive hard enough to notice/appreciate the weight savings of genuine CSLs, I'd go with the BM720s that dubsed runs. As someone else mentioned, they're the best-looking CSL variant (subjective, I know) AND the least expensive.

Mrr wheels
Anyone seen these csl style wheels?
I like them because they have the mesh wheel, concave, and lip... What you guys think of the gunmetal ones? http://mrrwheels.com/uo6.html

The barrels of flow-formed ("rotary forged") wheels are much more dense than traditional cast wheels. This allows the manufacturer to reduce the amount of material used and make the wheel lighter while still achieving the same load rating (1600 lbs in this case). The barrel is fashioned using the same process as a fully forged wheel, but the rest of the wheel is cast to cut costs. You end up with a wheel that weighs within a pound or two of a forged wheel, yet only costs a little more than a gravity cast wheel.
Flow-formed wheels include the Apex ARC-8, Apex Aero-7, Advan RS/RZ, Forgestars, certain BBS wheels, and others. IMHO, if I'm going to spend the money on a new set of wheels and take the time to have tires mounted and balanced, I would much rather shell out $200 more and realize a huge performance gain. Lightweight wheels make a big difference in the way the car responds to bumps/potholes mid-corner... not to mention the acceleration/braking benefits. When I put on my ARC-8's, it felt as if the car gained about 10 hp because of the 40 lb reduction in rotating mass the engine had to accelerate. The only downside other than the initial cost is a very minor reduction in ride quality, because the car will stay glued to the road.

As a few of you have said already, there are soo many CSL style wheels out there to chose from. We have had some great luck with the Sportline CS.16 as its a Rotary Forged wheel, so you not only get the looks but you get the performance. Here are some pictures for you guys from an E46 M3 which takes the same fitment as the M-Coupe/Roadster. Let us know what you think!

I love the CSL wheel design and really considered getting them for my car. Ultimately the main thing that prevented me from going that route was the fact that the OEM CSL wheels are 19”. I think 19” looks too big on this car and ultimately ends up being impractical for too many reasons. Worse tire selection, more expensive tires, more weight, more susceptible to damage, harsher ride. An equally important consideration was offset. The rears on the CSLs are about perfect but the fronts at ET44 would look too sunken in with the camber settings (~-2.2) I have up front.
I ended up getting Forgestar F14s, and I’ve been happy with them. The Sportline reps weren’t available when I was shopping, but I would have really been tempted by them. However, the idea of obvious knock-offs is always a little crummy and while the front size (8.5 ET35) is exactly what I have, the rears (9.5 ET22) would probably not work with the tires I run. My offsets are 5mm less aggressive in the back and they still just barely rub under full compression. ![]() ![]() |

^ You are one of the few based on my 18'' f14 search. Love your spec! It's too bad an 18x10R is needed for deep concave.

Absolutely. You don't have to track the car to notice the difference. We aren't driving a 4000+lb boat. It's the old show vs go preference. Me I want both (and a stronger wheel as Beedub mentioned). If that's possible for the same price point, then why not? There's more than enough material out there that supports this.
