KW v3 or Clubsport???

hi guys, im so pleased kw finally revised the way you adjust the bump/rebound and other settings on these kits, i was so against the old whole system with that fiddly tool that i completly rules those out, now as some of you may know i have a vt2-500 z4m roadster, i do around 5-10 trackdays a year but also really enjoy using my car on the road, it is however strictly a weekend vehicle..

which way should i go??? id hate to get the v3s and think... man i shudda got the CS, these are too soft, then also id hate to get the CS and think dammnn these are not suited to road use i shudda gone V3.....

i want to keep the ride height as close to stock as possible which i believe both kits offer, can anyone shed some light on your personal experience??

im thinking V3 with top mounts WILL be more than enough for an occasional track driven vehicle and ill be able to stiffen them via the adjustment to get a stiffer V3....

any opinions??

I only do a few track events a year, and I love the v3's. I have no experience with the clubsports, and I've never had custom suspension before.

IMO it depends on how much track time the car will see.

crfine has had both, check out his mod thread

JMO, but tracking 5-10 with your set up I'd definitely be looking for a CO with linear springs.

5-10 per year is a decent amount of track time. Get the Club Sports.

I think you would be happy with it. Even for long trips as long as the road is reasonably well maintained.

If you drive on a road which has a really bumpy surface like some sections of freeway around here then the car will become a little unsettled and bounce.

ClubSport is a great setup, I've put them on numerous vehicles and found them to be a very comfortable shock to daily drive, that really shines on the track. Ride quality is just as much in dampening vs springrates, and I think a lot of people play into the progressive springs far too much. In most cases the clubsports also come with upper mounts, which make the price differential not as severe as it initially seems.

For track or autocross, the progressive rear springs on the V3s are going to cause problems. I would go with something that offers linear springs all around. I had racecomp T2s on my old STi, which are KW V3s with linear rear springs and modified damping settings. They were great.

linear all the way...
Chris re[placed his V3 with Clubsport.
I went from Eibach lowering springs, to GC's then to KW Clubsport.

slight bump on this.... should i be worried about deformed front suspension turrets?? im reading that stiff coilovers like KW clubsports can cause deformation??

I haven't heard anything that relates this issue to the coilover itself.
There are definitely much stiffer setups being run on other CO's
TCKs & GC for example can be ordered with much stiffer springs than KW Clubsports.
My Clubsports are definitely softer than the GCs that I had.

IMO, car usage is probably a more important factor than the CO itself.

Also related to this topic;
it has been speculated that using a STB helps.
Supposedly the ring on the top adds stability to the area.

I haven't looked for a long time, but there also used to be reinforcement cups available to strengthen this area.

thankyou for the info.... ive 100% decided that the v3 with camber plates will be more than enough for me :-) ill never have to worryabout deformation with these ;-) plus i feel that it'll be a big step forward from stock also.....

Does anyone have any experience with KW competition? A friend of mine wants to upgrade from V3 to competition and I'm not sure if to get competition as well or just clubsport. Does competition make the car unusable on road?

I went with KW V3 since i feel that they will offer me more grip than the Clubsports on bad country roads and thin pavement as well as keeping my car a disciplined and civilized car.

I have an M Roadster and i am tailoring my mods to make it a better and faster roadster, not in the direction of a motorsport track car.

It took me a while to understand the beauty of a Roadster, I used to feel like i am lacking a roof and rigidity until it hit me that my car's beauty is top down, summer breeze, loud throaty voices, comfortable yet very sporty (KW V3) and fast as f*ck
