How long before your H&R springs fully settled?

Installed H&R springs on Thursday night. Have driven them a couple hundred miles (albeit almost all highway miles) since then. Really wish these fronts would lower a lot more...

How long till you felt your new springs fully settled?


I'm contemplating running the fronts without the little slivers of oem padding there is, but before going through the headache of taking everything apart and putting it back together again I'd like to get some feedback on how long it took for other guys.


BTW, on the fronts did you all leave the clear plastic lining on the top few coils in tact or did you remove it? I left it. Figured it was to prevent the coils from rubbing the paint off the adjacent coil and rusting.. curious how much lower my front would be without the little pads and that clear lining.. if I had to guess I'd say 2-4 mm's...

did you put 15mm spring pads on the back? Otherwise the back will be lower than the front.

I'm putting mine on this weekend, How do you like them so far?

Probably only takes a couple hundred miles for a new set of suspension to settle. Try to take the car on bumpy roads and load all four corners

No offense but you haven't even installed yours yet. Not to mention if you read a bunch of threads a lot of people (like crfine88 and fc360) never used the rear pads and their drop looks PERFECT.

Bah. I don't remember my H&R springs taking this long to settle on my e30 baaaaack in the day..

From someone that HAS done it with H&Rs.
Roffle Waffle is correct, the rear definitely sits lower w/o the 15mm spring pads.

I shouldn't have been so short with roffle, I understand this but it doesn't answer my original question. AND the rears sitting lower isn't as drastic for everybody, like I said crfine88 and fc360 have pics up an it almost looks like coilovers they look so good - WITHOUT the rear spring pads.

And roffle I forgot to answer your question, so far I like them, stiffen things up a little bit but not drastic. If I could get another finger width drop out of the front I'd love them. Think maybe I'll need to throw my 19's on there, perhaps the little camber and un-aggressive oem offset is making it looks worse than it is.

I've seen them take two weeks to settle on a car that isn't driven much.
If you've put 200 miles on them, you are pretty much settled.

FWIW here is my old roady on H&Rs fully settled with the 15mm pads.

19s with aggressive offsets should make it look a bit lower

Fully settled w/o pads on rear. Full tank of petrol. On a flat surface I cannot tell that the rear is lower. This picture is on a sloped DW. Springs took about a week to settle.

^mous what tire sizes are u running on ur ps2's? they look to have slightly higher sidewalls than the oem contis.

I noticed that a while back. They are factory size. In the vert picture I'm running Hankook v12's. 245/40f and 275/35 rear. 18"

About to throw the 19's on now. But what made me check this thread was a thought that just hit me: I wonder if the guys with no spring pads and perfect drop have their pins pulled in the front. I'm thinking tbe extra camber may make it a little lower. Am I crazy?

+1 my rear still sits lower even with the pads. Those springs should really have less rear drop and more front to even things out.

btw for my e46 ive tried several springs and they all took a good 2 weeks to fully settle.

To stay on topic, the way the coupe sits right now, on a slight decline so it doesn't look as bad... actually even looks good to me in this pic, it's deceiving. Flat surface has slightly reverse rake
