I will start a thread in the DIY section and a few thoughts on what I did. I'm sure there will be good input from others as more get installed. ....it's really very straight forward after you get past the initial thought of taking the OE roof off.

Got the roof bonded on the weekend with a few more pics.
I will get the DIY thread started tonight. FYI, it will mainly be a few tips & pics of what I did & a thread for others to add theirs. Also: There is a full DIY that Vince sends out with each roof.

Something you will never see from other CF vendors........
.......underside engineering!
Aside from the absolutely gorgeous looks in the other pics, I thought you guys might be interested in the engineering that has gone in to this roof, evident on the underside structure. Amazing work here guys.......

In case you've never seen what the OEM underside looks like, its has none of those panel shapes at all. Its just a skin and frame. The added holes are for expansion/contraction between extreme temperature changes as venting.
The panel shapes are frame holsters for the honeycomb panels which are sandwiched between the roof skin and substructure panel. So in a nutshell, you go from a 20lb very dent-able aluminum roof to a 8lb non dent-able roof with higher noise and heat rejection along with much more stiffness. Not to mention the safety of added kevlar in case of roll-over or perhaps exwives stabbing through your roof with a butcher knife. |
