Getting the Z4M brakes ready for summer
So...picked up a front and rear set of Stoptech BBK...calipers...6 piston with 380mm rotors up front and the 4 piston 355mm rears. The fronts are red and given I got the rears in black as the rear brake package in black were 30% off at Turnermotorsports...I figured I could save the $650 and repaint them myself. Given I've resprayed calipers in the past with excellent results (success or failure is in the prep work...sanding them, cleaning them and masking them off etc.) I figured I'd do it again. One done, 2nd caliper I'll do this week or weekend...

Did you already have red brakes on the front?
Why not just strip them both and hard anodize them all? Painting aluminium calipers to me seems strange when there is an easy alternative that is much more durable.

The fronts are in the box they were shipped in still. I have no issue with anodizing...just prefer to paint them as if one does it properly it lasts just as well. It's simply personal preference |
