Help with GC RSM install?

I'm in the middle of installing Ground Control rear shock mounts, and the instructions vs. what they supplied are confusing...

The RSMs each come with two new, thick washers, yet I interpret the instructions (covering E30/36/46, but nothing specific to E85/86) as saying for E36/46 to use the stock, thin upper [corrected] washer and the new, thick washer on the bottom [corrected]. Using even the one thick washers doesn't leave much thread showing once the nut is intalled on top of the shock and tightened so that the bushing is bulged just a smidge.

For those who've installed these, what washer combination did you use? Did you tighten so that the bushing bulges just a bit? And, did you nstall the bushings in the "street" indent-out orientation, or the "race" indent-in way?

Thanks!

IIRC I didn't use any OE hardware. WRT the orientation, I believe there was only one direction they snugged properly. inTgr8r will pop on shortly to better explain.

Are these the washers you're referring to?

You don't use any OE hardware at all.
Use the 2 supplied washers.

"did you nstall the bushings in the "street" indent-out orientation, or the "race" indent-in way?"
1st I've heard of this.
We installed ours lobes out.
It seamed the way that they fit best.
A little of the wheel well liner had to be trimmed.

there should be LOTS of thread sticking out when tightened.

No pic again...

In my haste this morning, I neglected to mention that these are the 10mm bushing inserts, and are going on the OE shocks (for now). So, probably different from what's supplied with coil-overs. Here's a pic of the instructions where they say to use the OE washer up top.

The arrow indicates the indent in the bushing--they sit more into the housing whenoriented "in", making for a shorter (and, I guess, less compliant) bushing. Alternatively, they sit more out of the housing the other way around, allowing more compliance. I went with "in' and it's fine--quiet and not harsh. Definitely only one-two threads visible above the nuts at the point the urethane starts to compress, but again this is the OE shock.

Good news is, if I did it wroing, or if I want to change it, it's a WHOLE lot easier now that I don't have to remove the trunk liner!

Thanks for the input. Any new/updated thoughts?

That decal adds 10mph on the top end! Came from http://www.europeanplates.com/, but seems to be unavailable now.

Well, you just kind of stick the decal on and rub it...

Oh, you mean the RSMs? I just made an executive decision about which way to put the bushings in ("race") and how tight to squish everything down, and it came out great--see my comments in the 'Anti-Roll Bushing" thread (those went in too) at http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=593943

I'm very pleased with the GC setup! Not a daily driver however - 500/600 lb springs... My wife didn't complain however after the 3,000 mile round trek to HC this year... Well, other than spirited driving in the mountains - screaming actually, not complaining
