NorCal Track Dates - Plans Summer/Fall 2011
Anyone else going to be at Thunderhill on June 6th? Skelekitty, me, and several friends of ours will be there. Still room in several of the run groups if anyone is interested.
Thinking about the 24th as well at Thunderhill as well. We're also strongly considering going with HOD for August 19 (although I'm not so sure about the heat) and finally BMWCCA Nov 5-6. We haven't been to Laguna Seca (Mfantatic's "home" track) and that might be fun in the hotter days of summer (since Willows/Thunderhill is notoriously hot). Who else has track days planned in Norcal and when? It's always fun to meet up with other forum members at the track and good to see Z4s in the paddock! |

My buddy (he's got an E92 M3 and a 996 GT3) is going to THill on June 11-12 for HOD.

One of my friends kept telling me about all the mods I should make to my engine and I finally said, "Dude. I haven't even found the limits of this car as it is. I need to mod my ASS." MOAR SEAT TIME is the best way to improve your car's handleability. And yeah, it looks like we'll be at the track on the 24th. Who's bringing me birthday cake?

All set for the 24th! We'll put candles on the car! Nah, probably an instructor instead of a cake. "Moar" seat time and instruction!

AHHHHH I wish I were back for all these fun track days
But I am enjoying it here in China. Everything's suuuuuper cheap Oh, and internship is not bad either. I get to share a white on tan VW Scirocco with my father (whose the plant manager here at the factory), and I get my own personal secretary and my own room in the executive officers' on-site dorms I'll be back in another month, in July. Maybe I'll see you guys sometime then. No Laguna Seca that I know of until end of the year |

Enjoy your time over there mfanatic325! Plenty of days to drive at the track when you get home - opportunities for cool trips to China don't come up every day!

hehe yeah the internship is going pretty well. They requested that I stay longer, so I extended my visa and booked a return flight for early August instead of end of June.
I left my car with my friend. He's taking care of it right now. It will be nicely/fully detailed by the time I get home |

Session I completed in the "noob" group. Thunderhill is running in "bypass" configuration, so there are some new lines to learn into 5 and 5a--I know what they are, just need to do it a few more times.
4 Z4Ms here today. Chris Fine's dad, 'Kitty, me, and a guy running in the open group who usually drives his spec Miata in race. (Can't recall the name--brain is occupied with driving....) |

Was it Rick by any chance?
I haven't run Thunderhill in ages. Do want to go back for sure when the new track layout is completed. I hear it's going to be twice as large? Last edited by mfanatic325; 06-24-2011 at 10:42 PM.. |

I didn't know the track was expanding? Guess I should pay more attention to the posters LOL. I'll check when I'm back there on the 4th. It was a good day today. I was pretty consistent with my braking/lines, got 8 nailed down (+10 coming out vs. start of the day, less pucker factor, smoother, more confidence). I still need to work on a "uncomfortably late" turn in to get the late apex on 14, but improved session to session. I'm trying to figure out when to run Laguna as Thill is going to be damn hot in July/August. It was about 90 today with a breeze and very nice. But 110? Edit: Yes, the track is expanding. 'Kitty heard about it while she was there--but we don't have details. This is going to be awesome. Last edited by Finnegan; 06-27-2011 at 12:11 PM.. Reason: Spelling, More Info |
