Room for a crash helmet
I'm interested in a Z4 for trackdays but I need to know:
Can a person 1.88m tall (6 feet 2 inches) fit comfotably in a Z4 coupe (with a standard seat) whilst wearing a crash helmet? Many thanks. |

Depends on whether you have long legs or a long trunk to make up the height.
I'm just barely 6 foot, but only a 32" inseam, so with a helmet on, I'm right on the hairy edge of fitting. Only way to know for sure is to try it... |

At 6.1 i've an inch of clearance which is morethan adequate. But i do sit fairly upright and close to wheel. Also it'lldepend how low you set the seat.
Like he said bring your lid to the dealer. I did. |

A crash helmet won't fit ......but a race helmet will.

Bring the helmet with you when you go test drive. That'll make sure the buyer will think TWICE about selling it to you.

I'm 6' 2" and I am in there perfectly fine. Normal driving position I have plenty of clearance, when I have my seat for auto-x, it's just a tad bit tighter

I'm 6'4" (34" in-seam) and have headroom normally just fine. When I put on my Bell, it's tight but works. You should definitely try first however

I do, and I'm 6'2.5" 34 inseam. Would try it out, but think you'll be fine.

Here is a general rule. If you sit in the car, and make a FIST with your hand, and place it above your head finger side down, and the top of your knuckles do not touch the headliner? Then you will fit with a helmet.

There are always ways around the "helmet," of course. My knuckle scrapes the roof, so of course when I get in the helmet lightly rubs the roof. I just scooch my @ss forward about 1/2" and that gives me just enough clearance.
The problem on the coupe, actually, is the way the roof slopes down to the SIDE. I bang my helmet a couple of times on sharp right hand turns on AX since the window hangs so low.

Then ask if you can amortize the cost of R-comps into the lease payment. Oh and ask if it's okay that the car's returned with a cage.
