Engine Died

Anyone else have this problem? I was driving to work this morning in my Z4M, engine was still cold, and as I was about to pull onto the freeway my engine cut out. Obviously the power steering was gone so I pulled over and turned it off, then restarted and everything was fine.

This is the third time it's happened, seems to happen every 4-5 months, with no other issues.

Mechanic suggested it's the crankshaft sensor, he's going to look at it later, but does anyone have any experience with this?

If it was angry enough at a sensor reading to shut the engine down cold, it should definitely have stored a code.

If there's no code stored, then I would suspect some sort of intermittent electrical connection.
