Motor/Trans mounts/Motor bracket bolts?

I have VT motor mounts and think RE Trans. mounts are the best bet for me. If there is anything else out there that I should consider please let me know. Just use the car on the road. Want to put both in together along with replacing the motor bracket bolts that loosen up. Having trouble finding the bolts/washers to buy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you again, Mike...

VT said the the OEM transmission mounts are a better design than the RE transmission mounts. As far as your motor mount bolts are concerned, I think that the original grade of bolt will work fine. Here is a thread talking about it.
If you get other ones, two of them are longer than the rest. But I would just make sure your original bolts are tight.

I thought the oem were to soft and allowed the transmission to move to much. I replaced mine with the RE and could tell a difference in feel and better 1-2, 3-2 gear engagement

If you have the Vibra-technics mounts then that should be enough to keep everything still. The OEM motor mounts allow the engine to twist a lot compared to VT so a stiffer transmission mount would do better. I remember VT saying that the design of the OEM transmission mount is better than RE. All that being said I bought RE mounts at the same time I bought my VT mounts. So I don't know what it's like to run VT and bmw tranny mounts.

I’m now running VT motor mounts with re tranny mounts. It’s a far better driving experience than when I had the bmw mounts. This is just on my car, as they say results may vary lol!

Did you ever run VT motor mounts with OEM transmission mounts?

The combinations I’ve run so far:
VT motor mounts w/ oem tranny mounts
VT mm w/ RE tranny mounts
Oem mm w/ oem tranny mounts

The combination I have right now is VT mm w/ RE tranny mounts. Best mods I’ve done!

I have VT and Rouge trans mounts and like the combo. Did them both at the same time, so can't say if OEM trans would have been better, but it sure didn't make things worse.

McMaster Carr is a good source for the bolts. You'll also need washers. Some use OEM, some use Nord-lock washers.

Thanks everyone for the input. I hate to buy 25 when I only need 6 of one and 2 of another. If anyone has extras I will buy them. I also am looking for the 8 pan bolts, they are 1 time use right? Too harsh of ride with solids, just looking for improved enjoyment.
Thanks again, Mike...

I had some extras when I did mine, but I have given them all away. I've seen hardened, zinc M8 bolts at Lowes, but don't know if they would have the lengths needed.

As far as I know, BMW is the only place to get the reinforcement plate bolts. Those bolts are one time use according to BMW.

I think I got mine from ECS:
6 of these
2 of these
The latter being "No longer available", but there's the part number so maybe you can find them from another source in small qty.

And Nordlocks - 91812A430

I found bolts locally in the bright silver finish in 10.9, not sure what type of plating that is ,but think they will work fine. Also found the 8 plate bolts under #31106772199.
Thanks again, Mike...

Got the plate bolts today. Wonder why 1 time use? Also are OEM lock washers for engine mount brackets something special or can they be reused or are they just regular lock washers? Want to get everything right before I start.
Thanks, Mike.

Plate bolts are "torque to yield".
Once you stretch them once, you don't want to stretch them again.
58 Nm (43 ft*lbs) and then 90° more.
Do the ones across the rear first (or so I've read).

I doubt there's anything special about the lock washers, but many of us went with the Nordlocks.

suspension plate bolts torque value

I suspect the torque value (58Nm) is based on the laden weight of the vehicle ( weight on the suspension). My car is on jack stands with the suspension hanging in the air.
Does this effect the torque value or am I just being anal.

I would think not.
I've had mine off and on at least 4 times while on jack stands.

I don't think it would effect the torque value, but might effect the final geometry if the car "bends" while on jack stands with the plate off, and then when you put the plate back on you lock it into that unfavorable geometry, but I think that's pretty anal.

They certainly are colorful, but I couldn't help but wonder if tuning the engine mounts was taking the concept of tuning just a little too far.
