Feel sorry for everybody suffering from the Canadian wildfires.

In a couple months we'll be entering the peak of wildfire season down here.

Finally some much needed steady rain. It was getting way too dry here. The lawns were all turning brown. Should clear some of the pollen out of the air as well.

Same, the grass is still various shades of brown but it's supposed to rain on and off most of the week. I'm not sure if it helps the smoke pollution but it does look less hazy for now.

Another day of June gloom. High today is 66°F

I actually like it. The heat will come soon enough.

Beautiful evening. Gave me a chance to work in the gardens after seven days
of rain before the shit storm forecasted for next Wednesday.

The last three days have been really nice and I managed to go through the backlog of gardening chores. However, rain is expected for the next three to four days...

Garage List
Rain in the forecast for the weekend. That should tamp down the fire danger.

Another 27C day today with not a cloud in the sky, not used to these high temps set to continue until Sunday when cooler temps and rain will make an appearance.

The solid week of rain we had didn't seem to reach up north far enough.. Still smells like a bonfire down here today. These fires are gigantic, especially the ones out west. The wiki page regarding only the Alberta fires "as of 20 May 2023 have burned over 842,000 hectares (2,080,627 acres)."

Since weeks, we‘re hoping for rain. Our lawn starts to die already. Maybe next week we will get some 🙏

Looking brutal in Texas this week. Houston and San Antonio, especially. I hope the power grid holds up.

I would be more than happy to send you some. We have another big system approaching...

My lawn is so green, that tour buses full of Irish folks stop by to take pictures.

Yes, it is unwise to be outside in Houston today. We did a 33 mile bike ride around noon. The start temps were 90˚F (32C).

Much of the route was tree covered so tolerable but the open sections had winds that were so hot it was like cycling through through an open oven door. Even worse was when we'd hit a stop light and have to wait the cycle sitting in the sun.

We made three cooling stops and I went through 3 liters of water in two hours. At 4pm the street level was sitting at 97˚F (36C) but should be tapering off the rest of the evening.

Needless to say the shower I took when I got home was a very cold one.

First time our row of sweet peas over-wintered, only to get blown over by the spring winds. Harvest time...
