Roof Interior Plastic Trim part

Hey yall. I've replaced my z4 electric top motor but unfortunately one of the splines came off the left side of the release motor. The top is up so it isn't releasing to get the top down to work on it. I have been working to get it back on but no dice thus far.

I *think* the solution is relegated to ripping off the top interior trim piece to then replace the spline and then replace the plastic trim part on the interior of the roof fabric. Is that feasible/recommended.

Know of another alternative to putting the splines on while the roof is up? I can see the splines so know I'm getting them lined up, it just isn't fitting onto the insertion piece.

I'm a coupe guy so get your salt out. Isn't there a way to manually put the top down? Would that be of any help?

No salt here

Usually yes. However in this case, the spline cord which connects the motor to the turn the release mechanism on the windshield top has come off. So only one side releases, not both.

The small panel above the rear view mirror pops off. There's an allen in there, I think 4mm, that releases the latches. I also think turning it to the right is what releases them. Does that work? Or are you saying that the connection between that and the latch is what's broken?

There's a red loop in the trunk that releases the rest of the mechanism.

The connection between the motor and the roof release is coming off. It's all good. Just working/working/working on it. Thanks though.
