Steering Wheel Off Center After Removal

Hi All,

Yesterday I disconnected the battery & took the wheel off of my 3.0si coupe to clean it up a little, after putting it back on and going for a drive today, the wheel is slightly off center, with the center a few degrees to the left. It appears there is only one way the wheel can actually go back on after its removal (see red arrows below)

Anyone have any idea how it could possibly be off center suddenly? It was perfectly straight before its removal - the car also drives completely straight, the wheel however is not so I don't believe its an alignment issue with seemingly only one way to place the wheel back on, is there any way to adjust this?

There is only one way for the steering wheel to be bolted on. There is no correlation between taking the wheel off and back on and the issue you are having. The most likely scenario is that you are now paying closer attention to the orientation of the wheel while you are driving after having it off. The only fix would be an alignment.

Tiny update incase someone searches this in the future and has the same issue - The issue ended up being the sensor. Having this reset resolved this. This thread here might provide some more info. Unsure if this applies to M cars at all though
