Z4M and e46 M3 trailing arms difference ? help.

Hi Guys,

Looking on realoem i can see that the e46 M3 and Z4M have different part numbers for the rear trailing arms, however I got an e46 M3 trailing arm that fits in there and that had the same number written on it as my broken trailing arm, which i find bizzare.

Can anyone help ? I need to understand why does BMW have a different trailing arm part number for the Z4M and e46 M3 and what is the number written on the trailing arm ?

from realoem:
z4m: 33327837507
e46 M3: 33322229685

I have no idea, perhaps they revised it after a certain year? But if the physical part has the same part number then whats the probelm?

after looking at ETK...
all of the addon parts (bushings, bolts, etc...) are the same between the two cars with exception to the rear wheel speed sensors. it's possible that the e46 arm was modified to work with the e85/6 chassis, so rather than create an entirely new casting, BMW simply milled/drilled different mounting possitions for the z's sensor and gave it a different PN.

Z4m/E46M3 trailing arms

Hi, Did you get to the bottom of the differences, as I was thinking of using the E46 M3 arms for a Z4MC race car build, as they are fairly easy to come by in the UK.
Cheers

I installed the e46 M3 part in place of the broken one and not having any issues, the car lines up perfectly.
