btw i like the upgrade BUT.... BUT... are you aware that Ap, Brembo, stoptech, alcon and the likes spent huge amount of time getting the piston sizes to match so you still get a nice pedal ect ect....

that said you may get lucky and these bad boys just bolt right on..... if it was me, id have gone for a top brand off the shelf BBK that was deisgned to fit our car.... they are a pain enough to fit anyway never mind fitting something that was never designed for the car..... Also the Ap 6 pot is very light... quite abit lighter than the stock caliper, you may well be adding weight on each corner here.

well done for trying though... keep it and and keep the pics coming.... with all this stopping power you better have the vt1 under the hood....
I'm still gonna try this
Go for it bro....

Please buy new kicks.

ASAP .

I don't see why it would screw up his brake bias or pedal to floor, after all I put on those 6 piston 135i calipers on my "I" without a problem and have grate pedal feel....and the caliper doesn't seem to be any bigger than the OEM 6 piston Brembos, but then again what the hell do I know, I'd say what the heck what do you have to loose other than some time and a little money. Do the mod their is an acceptable amount the front rotors can grow before really screwing up your brake feel.

this project may see a revival if I can get Adams Rotors to make a rotor that will fit the caliper without banging into the control arms and overtaking the tie rod assembly.

It will be a matter of offsets.

The M5 Rotor is so massive that it just envelopes the control arm.

Many of you a thinking How nice it would be to be able to vote twice on the third poll option (lol) but I have a feeling this is very possible. Hopefully this doesn't lose steam as it would be real neat to have the first ever Z4 M with an OEM Brake Caliper set up from an E60 M5.

Hybrid Offset....

well I just sent this email out:

I am trying to be the first tuner ever to install OEM BMW E60 M5 Brake Calipers on an E85 Z4 M. Im not interested in Brembo or anything else.
I have my mind set on using the OEM set up off of an M5. I personally think that the brakes from the M5 are superior to most aftermarket, that said I will explain the issue.

Today my Shop has tried to fit the the M5 Rotor and Caliper onto the Z4 M just to check clearances and see how a bracket can be made for the Caliper in relation to how it would need to fit for a snug mount.

We were detained at the OEM Rotors. The rotors were so thick and offset so low to the hub that it was over taking the control arm and tie rod. We looked at it for a while, and after thinking it through we decided that it was a no go. Then it occurred to me that if a rotor was re-designed with the proper offsets it could clear. A rotor would have to be made with the thickness of the original M5 Rotor but with the appropriate offset some what close to the Original Z4 M Rotor and then it would be up to my shop on our end to work around that. I imagine that it may be necessary to perhaps send out one z4 M rotor and one M5 Rotor to construct a rotor with a "hybrid offset". If this is successful it would be a serious game changer for MANY Z4 M owners considering that M5 Calipers can be found for significantly less than Popular BBK's.

If you guys accept this ambitious challenge please let me know.
