Coilovers groaning and squeaking...... Booooo

Picked up this car in May 2016. Within a few weeks of the hot weather the coilovers started to groan and squeak especially went turning up driveways. Took the car into the shop and they sprayed lube and the noises all went away. Shop said it has a lot to do with the dry hot weather and the dirt/grime that gets in there.

Anyways the noise is back again. Anyone else have this issue ?? I'm thinking that the entire coilover assembly has to be removed and cleaned up...... maybe ?? I have never had this with any other coilover setup on any car in the past. Coilovers are BC's.

Sounds and noises are very individual with COs.
I've had several on this car and they all made noise of some description.
The MCS With Vorshlag camber plates I have on now are the first that have been completely quiet.

A lot depends on the top mount such as Spherical bearings etc

I don't know much about BCs , so I know that doesn't help a lot....

Next time find out what they "lubricated" in order for the noise to go away.

Also check and see if you've got thrust sheets installed between the springs and their mounting surfaces.

BCs are the lower price coilovers. Idk if that matters or not.

Not sure why it's so hit & miss with some.
Mine were quite noisy on less that perfect roads, especially when cold.
They got better after a few miles.

It's not hit or miss, some people are more sensitive to noises while some have gotten desensitized by it.

A friend was riding in the MZ4 Coupe one time, and as we were driving around he commented "does your car always make this much ruckus? I think your shocks are bad."

I got so used to the little noises that the GC coilovers make I "tuned" it out, whereas someone who's used to the soft, supple, cushy ride of his F30 328i heard every single rattle and roll. Wasn't until he mentioned it and I actively listen for it did I notice that it does make some rattle-y noise when I go over bumps.

Guilty as charged
I'm definitely tuned in to suspension/coilover noise as I've had a few defective ones to deal with over the years. (mostly on other platforms)

My KW CS are noisey over small bumps and it's not something that would go unnoticed by anyone that still has hearing. However you have me thinking about the strut tower reinforcement plates as a possibility. It's a lighter tin sound that showed up after my suspension install. I did the plates at the same time.

I had mine installed with the under reinforment plate as well as a strut tower brace up top.
Made no difference.

The under plates are definitely cheap insurance to help protect the strut towers

Exactly

I haven't put a whole lot of effort into figuring it out. The car on the track is quiet and no issues it's only small bumps on the street which I've seen caused by sway bar links before - mine are new.

Garage List
KW CS installed on my Z4MC as well, bit of a noise maker but the whole car creaks and groans a lot more than your average car.

I wanted to update my comments on this thread in case someone else is searching and trying to track down a seemingly suspension related noise.

What sounded like a sway bar endlink turned out to be a missing brake pad retaining clip. The clip had fallen off and the outside brake pad was loose and clanking over bumps.
