Cadmium plating Z4M rotors?

should i do it? i got the rotors and noted they are untreated and dont want them to get all nasty and rusty, should i drop them off at a platers?

the cost for two rotors are 150$

the finish is much like the brembo rotors or can be silver........

i just dont want the rotors to get all rusty, what have you M owners noticed?

are the center hats aluminum or steel?

thanks guys!

Aluminum. Cadmium treating them would be a waste of money.

Ok Thanks for confirming the center hat ... I meant for the recessed holes and outer edge of the rotor. As those are what I see rusted.

I decided to go the cheaper route for corotion resistance ....

Cadmium ? Are you certain, because white and yellow zinc is what most plating co's do today due to regulations.

Either of those would only last a season after enough heat cycles and your Winters.

Even powder coating last so long.......but you might try PC coatings for high temp such as ceramics in silver or black. I've done a few this way just for shelf life....but haven't run them in yet to say for sure.

Yea Brembo uses cadmium it's more durable than zinc. Do a search for cadmium plating and you will see all the rotors show up. It's good stuff my Brembo gt kit is a few years old and shows no rust or oxidation. Love the stuff. I'll do it prolly next time as I don't want to wait any longer ....
