Opinion Needed on Brooklyn Grey Paint Touch Up

I recently took a door ding which chipped the paint on the passenger side door on the body line. Weighed options between a full repaint and just a paint touch up. Although I knew it would not be perfect I opted for the touch up at a local body shop. And to be honest I am pretty disappointed with the body shops work. To me the paint match is pretty far off from Brooklyn Grey, being a darker grey. Plus there are the tiniest of air bubbles in the crevices of where the chip was. I expected to see the outline of the chip, but I thought the color would have matched closer and never expected to see air bubbles. Wanted to get a second take from other BMW owners. See before and after pics below.

If you're unhappy with the results, have some touch-up mixed yourself from a body-shop supply shop or a local touch-up guy who services your local dealerships. Then do it yourself. And watch where you park!

Appreciate it, but generally speaking you pay someone to do the work because you believe they can do the work better than you can. I have no experience with paint touch up and wanted an opinion on the body shops work. If that is the best most professionals can do I can live with that. But if this subpar work I would like to get that addressed. And yes, I definitely need to watch where I park. I thought parking next to a family friend with four feet of space between our cars would be sufficient, but apparently not.

i've had good results with dr colorchip. i'd even say that with several layers applied to this chip you can fill it in a little more than the shop did. color match has always been spot on and i've done the following colors onyx black(gmc), jet black, imola yellow(vw), interlagos blue, glacier silver, slate blue(vw).

Good to know. I have seen several people recommend Dr. Colorchip and how user friendly it is

that is what touch up paint will look like unless you paid them to attempt to polish it in but most shops would advise against that on the edge of a panel like that, basically that is what a touch up job will look like.

our rule at my shop is never charge for touch up because people always think it will look better than it will turn out, infomercials and tiktoks have really misled people to believing what can actually be done.

I've used Dr. ColorChip and the chip is 99% invisible after using it, but it wasn't on an edge. I showed it to a body shop and they couldn't even tell where it was after I pointed out the exact spot.
