Lightbulb BMW 6 series - Oil Changing

Hi, I just bought a BMW 6 series a year ago. At the beginning I used to change the engine oil after every 9500km, I’m asking because I'm curious since my vehicle is almost 2 years old now. Is it a good practice to reduce this amount of kilometers that I had between maintenance?

10-15k km or 1 year interval is safe enough..

3k miles oil change is a myth that costs a lot financially and environmentally unless the engine is "highly tuned" and so sensitive to heat and viscosity since the older the oil gets it decreases step by step.. or as long as you re not driving an old tech'ed engine..

I'd consider this approach - on the chance it's leased do what BMW says. Sounds like you own it though. Do the next change at a similar interval or at 1 year and send it off for analysis (i.e. Blackstone Labs). Let an analysis guide you to how the oil is doing and if you can go longer (or, perhaps, shorter).

I do mine every 5000km but I'm heavily modded. The n63/n63tu eats oil, even with prefect value stems and everything 100% it loses a bit. Most of the n63 issues stem from poor oil consumption and conditions. Doing oil changes earlier is a very cheap solution to give extra protection. $200 is pennies compared in the long run.
