Seat Belt CG-Lock upgrade....
I just installed CG Locks on my seat belts and I love them....they really lock lap belt down and create for minimal sliding.....taking corners is awesome now. no sliding around in my seat.
will post pics soon |

Take the seat-belt...and snap it so it locks.
Move the seat-back, snap and lock it, and then move the seat back to your spot and the seat belt will tighten. |

Slide your seat back and make the belt lock with a sharp pull. Move your seat forward so the belt is tight against you.

had a CG & got rid of it.
Didn't like it at all at the track because it does nothing for the upper torso. The lock-it-method works far better.

you did not bought bought the CG Lock for nothing ( what, you probably paid $40-$50 for it;-) just kidding man. Just like CDV Delete, it works wonder for but not for others (i drove my buddy's before decided to leave mine alone). Try both and see/feel for yourself

I have two GClocks. I do like them, and use them on the track.
For the upper torso, use a sheet of rubber type kitchen cabinet mat draped over the seat. This keeps your upper body in place. Then lock the belt and move seat up to driving position. This REALLY keeps your body in place. vinny, once you figure out how to properly mount a 5-point harness in the car without some type of harness bar or cage, let us all know............... |

I use the seat sliding technique, as others have mentioned. Learned it at an autocross. Holds your whole body, and you don't even need a harness

Additionally...the shape of the stock seat is not safe for a 4,5, or 6 point harness. So you'd be replacing at least the drivers seat, but probably the passengers seat and harness too for equivalency

I've had a 4pt Scroth Quick Fit in my E36 for autocross.
When I got my E86 I was looking for a CG, but a fellow driver lent me this - Mighty Tite. If it weren't for the bulkiness that made it dig into my right hip, it'd be ideal. But then I'd need decorate it with Lightning McQueen stickers. |

cg lock and 5pt seem overkill for streets (if you're sliding that much on public roads, i'd be concerned about getting pulled over lol). stick to the seat slide method.

I use one of these (see pic). They're only about 2-3 bucks. I really use it so the belt is a little more to the left and doesn't slide against my neck, but it also locks the bottom in place.
It looks something like this when it's on, except not plastic.

Yep.
If you are driving only on the street, I agree. I find them very useful on the track. I keep them on the car on the street because I am too lazy to take them off. It's a hit or miss thing. But they work like a charm when you are driving the car harder than you can drive on the street..... Last edited by Shipkiller; 01-14-2012 at 09:34 AM.. |

I would never use anything like that. Basically the seat belt has two section:lap (over ur pelvis) and shoulder (over ur rib cage) both of which are very sturdy part of the body. Something like that would not degrade the ability of seat belt to hold the upper body in case of an emergency
