Does anyone know if the Powerchip Race($490) = RPI reflash?

You can get the DME re-flashed for free by ESS if the dealer accidentally flashed it back to stock. Doesn't RPI charge full amount for a re-flash? Last time I was reading the RPI software thread I thought they even hesitated giving out a 1 time free re-flash as part of the deal?

i emailed evosport about the headers and this is their response.

Chad-

Thanks for your email.

I’m not sure where you heard that, but Evosport would NEVER sell any header and brand it as our own other than one that we designed and engineered ourselves. They are not (and have never been) eBay headers, copies of someone else’s headers, or made in China or overseas. We designed, engineered and tested our own headers and they are made in the US.

Hope this helps!

Dude, listen to me VERY carefully, if you buy those headers you are a fool and a sucker, they are ebay header PERIOD. I have an electric supercharger I can sell you for 1k, I swear it's not a piece of crap I can buy off ebay for 20 bucks.

Go ask ANY e46 community what kind of headers they are and you will get an instant response, or just go check ebay yourself.

Please don't be a gullible moron.

The fact that there are people like you that need to be protected from scammers pisses me off, and the fact I have to take extra time when you could just NOT be an idiot and check for yourself pisses me off as well. Luckily my hate for scammers and desire to prevent them from profiting overwhelms my hate for idiots who can do nothing to help themselves.

Do they evosport headers on top in this picture look familiar? They should, they are evosport headers. Oh wait sorry those are headers that were purchased from ebay for $150

And here's the "evosport" headers the only reason they might look different to the amateur eye is because they are at different angles. There are several different variations of these headers, mainly dealing with bung placement and length, but the basic design and craftsmanship is the same between them all.

Issues with these headers:
  • Flanges are poorly jigged, headers have to be physically HAMMERED onto the head studs to get them to fit.
  • Headers runners are not equal length. bad for performance.
  • Flanges are thing as are the walls, contributes to rasp.
  • Big ass bubble gum welds on flanges often invades the bolting area, meaning you have to grind a nut way down to even tighten them.
  • Crappy gaskets that normally come with them blow out and cause a leak doubling the instal price when you go to get them fixed. This happens 1/3rd of the time. Good OEM gaskets which you would need are almost $100, keep that in mind.
  • Installation of rear o2s is impossible, install of both primaries (required) is only possible after cutting one of the bungs in half with a cut off.
  • Fitment with exhaust is poor causing constant tension on the head studs.
  • Bunch of other stuff I don't feel like remembering.

Save yourself the markup and buy the headers off ebay for $200 all of this product is sourced from overseas.EBAY HEADERS also buy products from vendors that R&D / build there own products not buy and resell them with there name on it.

Can I also point out how absolutely fucked up it is that they sit there and lie? Or are just doing this in the first place?

They swear by ebay headers working and being worth what they cost ($150), they don't swear by spending $1300 for a pair of shitty headers you can get for $150.

So what exactly was your point again, you didn't have one, my mistake.

I don't, I'm a grease monkey. How do you refuse to make no effort to help yourself what so ever?

You were explained to twice that they were ebay headers by two reputable sources. You could EASILY confirm for yourself but instead opt to continue questioning a fact. I have little desire to be nice to people who refuse to help themselves.

You clearly need this beaten into your head.

And don't even give me that in the first place because you know I'm helpful on things that aren't very easily apparent.

Alright- lets move on. No need for anyone to take this too personally. Way I look at it we all are trying to sort through the value of this offer. BTW, what were the headers on the bottom of your picture O-cha...they look different if you look closely.

Now lets get back to ECU. Is it the RPI ecu?

Bottom ones are AA headers, they are the same design as CSL headers, equal length runners and actually fit. They are on my car currently. There are a few other companies that actually make quality headers, there's also CSL headers themselves if you can weld, or have welded bungs.

The Evosport and RPI software is Powerchips. I would be upset if I were RPI because it would appear that Evosport has gotten a better deal from Powerchips on the vendor cost of there tune. Because different vendors sell one companys software sometimes it is difficult to get straight answers or info.

Hey O-Cha thanks for the clarification...they do look higher quality. Do you mind sharing what they cost and where to buy them? Also, what software did you run before the S/C? Or, are the headers part of the S/C build?

Thanks!

They were part of the build, I bought the car for the purpose of supercharging so I held of any performance mods until then. If you have a chance to hold them both in your hand you'd understand even more then the pictures the quality difference, it's quite extreme.

Retail on active headers is 1800, I can get them a bit cheaper.

That's a pretty standard price for quality headers which is why so many go the ebay route. They work, they just can't by any means be described as quality.

since everyone on this thread seems to be technical, more so than other threads...I have a question

Did anyone ever notice your reading on your TPMS sensor when full throttle(for those who have a OBDII scanner)? On my obdII gauge the highest my car gets when driving is a reading of 73 and sometimes 75, but when I manually turn the throttle body to wide open my sensors read 81!! Has anyone noticed this or is this normal for a car to never hit full WOT?? wondering if my car is in limp mode b/c of cali gas or would that only effect the timing?
