Any ideas what this wire is?
Hi everyone. About to finalize a deal with a buyer for a 2006 Z4 M and he told me the first owner installed an iPod adapter/wire to the car. Neither of us know how it was installed or where it's connected to, so I'm hoping someone here can shed some light for us. The brand is 'iwire'.
All we know is that it's coming from the center console under the shift knob area. View post on imgur.com |

Have you or the seller connected an ipod and or iphone to it and see if it plays music through the stereo

I have a similar connector but my wire is not covered with electrical tape. I connected a Bluetooth Ivery module to it and can now listen to my music from my iPhone.

Ha, we know what it is but I'm wondering where it connects through and if this is common.

Where is it connected and fed through? I tend to keep my cars OEM (haven't done anything to my e82 or my previous e88) and I'm not very car savvy.

It’s likely connected to another device like a soundbridge that’s likely tucked under the a/c panel or the ash tray.

I'm sure that kludgy looking cable connects to the HU, how else would it be able to play music I replaced the BMW one with an Intravee II, which is 100 times better. |

After some searching, that looks like an 'iSimple ipod interface for BMW' with a kill switch wired in?
If you have a Nav screen, then I'm guessing that wire runs under the the middle console to the back of the car, under the rear console, and into the trunk where there is probably a little adapter box back there using the CD-changer wiring. |
