Lifted Safari'd Z4M Coupe with Offroad Tires on BAT

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...z4-m-coupe-76/

Looks like a very unique build. Lifted suspension from Ground Control with a skidplate in the front. Rear hatch and trunk are modified to fit two spare wheels/tires. Looking at the vehicle history report the color change was done at least 6 years ago but it doesn't say when the rest of the mods were done or by who. I would suspect it's mostly a show car.

Has a pretty decent lift on it but even with the modified fenders it doesn't seem like there's a ton of suspension travel. Maybe slightly smaller tires would help with that. Would probably hurt performance less too. Probably needs more skid plates to actually be used offroad too.

What does everyone think? Awesome transformation or a ruined M Coupe?

A member here maxxfish built this. Curious what it sells for. 150k miles, was probably not in the best condition or they wouldn't have modded it like that.

That's really cool. Had no idea it was a forum member that put it together.

If you are going to do it, why not with the top version? Then you have an LSD as well.

Curious how it performs with the large tires. Increasing the diameter by 4" without changing the rear diff ratio to match has to dramatically effect the performance.

It does look really cool, though I have my doubts that as a offroad vehicle, it performs that well. Minimal wheel travel, how far can the front wheels turn with that large of a tire, wrong rear gearing, but I'd really want to try it out, it's located within a couple of hours from me. I'm thinking more show then go

Thanks for the (mostly positive) comments! I bought the car with 150K miles, accident history, and a non-oem paint color, so no harm/foul modifying it.

It actually drives really well, I just posted a driving video in the comments section of the auction.

I love the build process, so it was mainly a design exercise for me. Here's some more info regarding the build: https://www.hagerty.com/media/car-pr...-coupe-safari/

Impressive build, hard to believe you were able to fit such large tires on there, with some massaging I'm sure. I bet that thing will rip on some dirt. GLWS
