I once saw a carbon fiber set of covers, while surfing the web. I wish I could find the photo again, as they looked pretty sweet.

I'd be up for a set of these, if someone was to make some that look good. However, they need to be more reasonably priced than the latest eBay auctions have been in order for me to bite on them.

FYI, I just listed a set of convertible E85 top side covers on eBay. I was not sure how to price so I'll let potential buyers decide. They are black in excellent condition.

Looks nice! I would be too afraid of raising the top and breaking them.

Get the OEM wind deflector so you can take that accessory one off to complete your look.

Part number?? Thanks

Wow, I am glad that I bought these when the car was new. I do not always use them because I sometimes forget and then they pop when I am putting the top up. I will be more careful now that I know how much they cost to replace. Too bad that they were not standard equipment. The car looks a lot nicer with them.

I can't believe anyone would pay $450 bucks for these things. They look pretty good when installed but they make using the automatic top a lot more of a chore as they have to removed every time the top goes up (thus you have to get out of the car every time you operate the top).

I'm a big guy so I can remove them without getting out of the car.

Correct. Unless you plan to have the top down for a while, they can be an inconvenience. But they do look great.

I only drive the roadster with the top down, anywhere from 20 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Driving with the top up completely ruins the car for me.

For me it more of when you get somewhere. I don't leave my top down if I take the car somewhere (say to a restaurant or grocery store) so then the covers would be put on before I left my house then have to be removed when I got somewhere, then on again before I drove home. I guess if you simply leave the top down on any drive you take it wouldn't be an issue.

I have an E93 (my Z4 is a coupe) but when I park it I just put the windows up. And I don't leave anything tempting sitting in sight!

New Remodeled Side Covers

Hi Z4 E85 owners. Finally Soft top SIDE COVERS!
After quite some interest we are considering to make a small batch of sets for who is interested, based on our ‘one-off’ proto design, IF there is enough interest. We calculated there must be at least 50 people interested to make tools and do a small production here in Silicon Valley.

My bud Brian has made a video of our prototype. If you guys like it and we get 50 or more request we order the tool to be made. Shipping can be done worldwide I guess.

YouTube video:

We based the cost at $250 for a set (based on production of 50-100 sets - tool is most expensive part). Shipping can be done (at your own expense).

Again we need 50+ people interested to commit so we can do this. Email to bavarianbunker@gmail.com if you like to join in so we can do the headcount.

We also posted on FB and have around 15 people who signed up.

Stay healthy!!!

Rick & Brian

Looks good. I wonder if it's possible to retro fit the locks to the originals.
