Transport mode will give you 2 out of 3?
I think there's some threads around here on that. I was out in the Mojave again today trying to find out if Jupiter has a chewy nougat center. Luckily it was only 102. Tried my air again. Still blows hot. Really hot. Pretty convinced the blend actuator is stuck on full hot. OP's problem may be the actuator. There's 5 of them I think, on the HVAC box behind the center dash. Need to pull the dash to troubleshoot. This weekend I'm going to see if I can get around to plugging the laptop in and see if you can get anything out of the HVAC control unit with DIS or INPA. Edit: Dawns on me now why there's 5 actuators. Floor, defrost, and vents are 3 separate actuators. Other 2 are recirc and temp blend. Vent actuator may be kaputz.

My car was definitely in Transport mode earlier this year. I don't remember having any amount of AC available, the interior fan was locked into the slowest speed, and the rear window defroster wouldn't switch on.

I've had mine stick a couple times. Got air back to the main dash vents by switching back and forth from floor to dash until I heard the vents move. I've left it in the dash vent position since AC from there is most important.

I don't leave my HVAC in auto mode because of this. I figure the less actuation of the components the better. In the colder months if I have to change any venting direction I wait until there is warm air circulating before I make a change to the venting. Is this increasing the longevity? Who the hell knows....

Auto mode has you set the temperature you want the interior at and the car's HVAC does the thinking. It will choose the air temperature, the fan speed and which vents to send the air to. Along the lines of this discussion though, if you last got out of the car and it was warm/hot outside "Auto" would have the air being sent to the dash vents. If you next started the car up in the morning and it was cool out "Auto" might choose to send warm air to the floor and perhaps windshield vents.

The AUTO program adjusts the air distribution to the windshield and side windows, towards the upper body area and into the footwell for you. The air flow rate and your temperature specifications will be adapted to outside influences as a result of seasonal changes, e.g. sunlight or window condensation. The cooling is switched on automatically with the AUTO program. The AUTO program functions only to a limited extent when the convertible top is open.<

The auto recirc is the one that gets me.
It switches to recirc when it smells a skunk? It can smell smells? Maybe it's a smoke-detector-like beam that can see particulates.

Maybe it's not the skunk it smells, does it happen after you get in from a good meal?....(kidding around). I've never noticed that change automagically.
