OEM M5 Brake crossover to a Z4M (no pics yet)
This is a little adventure that I am about to embark on since an entire OEM brake kit off of an M5 fell into my lap.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

What are measurements of the M5 rotors? How much modification is required? What about the size of the master cylinder? It has to be bigger in the M5.
Would love to see this get pulled off, but will the cost associated be more or less than just getting a stoptech kit off the shelf? |

stoptech? I like original equipment... I don't have any of the specs of this project as it literally has just taken it off. I will update accordingly

if you can bypass labor byknowing someone who is skillful with the welding in all that with the bolts and what not the actual part of the m5 brake itself isn't that devastating

Just putting bigger brakes on there isn't going to make it stop better. More than likely you're going to affect your brake bias and end up with a worse braking distance. That is unless you do a lot of testing and adjust accordingly.
If it was me, I'd start by recording some 60-0 and 90-0 stops, seeing how many feet it takes to stop on average. Then after the mod is done do the same test and verify that your stopping distance is same or better, and if not keep adjusting until it is. There's a lot of testing that goes into a kit like Brembo or Stoptech.

those better not be your shoes barney...... fo Realll.....
btw i like the upgrade BUT.... BUT... are you aware that Ap, Brembo, stoptech, alcon and the likes spent huge amount of time getting the piston sizes to match so you still get a nice pedal ect ect.... that said you may get lucky and these bad boys just bolt right on..... if it was me, id have gone for a top brand off the shelf BBK that was deisgned to fit our car.... they are a pain enough to fit anyway never mind fitting something that was never designed for the car..... Also the Ap 6 pot is very light... quite abit lighter than the stock caliper, you may well be adding weight on each corner here. well done for trying though... keep it and and keep the pics coming.... with all this stopping power you better have the vt1 under the hood....
