KW Clubsport Settings
Hi all. Hoping to find others with KW Clubsport coilover experience on the Z4M platform. I purchased my Z4M used with a KW CS setup and about 8K miles later (64000 miles on the car) the car is starting to feel a bit ragged and rough around the edges. It no longer feels as planted and tight as it did day 1.
Troubleshooting in my head, thinking its worthwhile to inspect 1. Alignment 2. Suspension bushings, bolts, etc. refresh 3. KW CS settings The car is rapidly approaching 9 years of service, no doubt a few items need replacement. Where to start and what should I look for? FCABs, RTABs, motor & tranny mounts would be at the top of my list to check.

+1 I can give you a much more *cough* exhaustive list, but yeah id def start with what Ian said. and in case you don't have limiters installed at the back, id be adding them when replacing the Rtabs.

Thanks for the notes. Going to get under the car this weekend and survey the situation, then overnight some parts

Dove into the car this weekend. Bushings, linkages and sway bars all check out. The alignment was slightly off and the KW shaft collars (purple bits to set ride height, etc) were stripped meaning the collar could spin on the coilover shaft.
Found a short term remedy for that and dropped 4-6 psi out of each tire since I was way too high (scared after a cracked wheel ) and the car seems much more planted and stable. |

The set screw threads are intact, unfortunately it is the threads on the shaft collar (nearest the coilover) that are stripped. I put in a longer M3 bolt and it seems to be holding for now while I get parts from KW on order.

Threads on the set screws look good and the collar itself looked worn so that seemed the only culprit. Oddly enough the rear coilovers are fine. Car is used and I doubt the previous owner even knew about the issue.
Reached out to KW, awaiting their response. |

the set screw Still would stop the colour from turning if you used ur hand and forced the color , the set screw just holds the color from the tiny loads it will see in thread direction on the car.

Compressed length or uncompressed length? I can measure next time I am under the car otherwise you can find more information in the user manual
http://www.kwsuspensions.com/extras/...ah35220834.pdf Doesn't seem to be doing the trick, however I might try new set screws prior to splurging on spring collars (spring perch KW is calling it). |

I had thought several times , when I had my Clubsports that I would like to add a second perch as a jamb nut the way most other mfgs. do it. Then there is no need for the set screw at all. If the perch itself is stripped, I would be concerned about it supporting the spring (and car) under compression. It could shift around on the damper threads, or let loose completely.

Ordered both parts from KW, shall see what's what underneath the car. Best case it is only the set screw and I can double up spring perches.
