Official Motorscorpion camera mount thread
I'll be compiling my videos and pics into this first post:
filmed on a Gopro 1 on a Gopro 1 Filmed with a Gopro 2 at 120fps with external mic. Notice the lack of wind noise. This is the newest version, using a tow hook adapter

surprisingly the audio is BETTER than mounted closer to the car. less wind noise, and you hear the exhaust and blower much more. uploading a short teaser clip now..

+1 the clip finally shows exactly how my car sounds with the euro headers and the rest being stock. 70% intake sounds, and 30% raspy exhaust. I think it'll sound even better with fresh header gaskets I got waiting to go in.
At the launch, like you've noticed, I wasn't trying to melt the tires since I launched at 1500rpm. The RE-11s were cold, but still.... I think I really need Racelogic w/launch control because its way too hard to launch it hard. Maybe someone local can teach me in the meantime. I'll attach a strap-down to this thing going under the bumper, and see if that gives me the stability I need. If not, then I'll add some metal to the structure so it doesn't flex vertically

Roffle,
No matter how you strap it, the PVC is going to flex in all axis and induce vibration. Still, awesome pics.. |

Ship, I wanted to at least TRY to build this under $50, which i think I did.
Next, I'll re-make it in metal pipes My goal is to build something even my friends can borrow, or heck maybe even rent it out for $20/day My girlfriend asked my why I'm doing this, and honestly, I cant think of a good reason, heh The picture doesn't show another little 45* angle piece I added up top, so that the camera's parallell with the ground

I love the concept and the view point of the camera.
Try to substitute some aluminum for the PVC. Try that on only the center bar. That piece may be the only one that needs to be metal... I really like this idea... |

I just bought all these pieces in 1/2" steel pipe. Version 2 coming soon =)
Didn't find aluminum pipe, but I bet its more than $9 for a 60" section edit: nevermind I see something similar on Ebay. Just gotta find it locally... The good thing about the pipes I bought is that most of it screws together Maybe this heavier, steel version would actually have less play in it because of the added weight, assuming it doesn't fly off, hahaha

I think the autocross safety inspectors would be very confused. hahahahaha. Anyway, this setup would make some really cool autox clips once I perfect the design

video of version 2, using 1/2" steel construction and a ratcheting tie down strap rear end got a bit light at around 52 seconds, near top of 3rd. hahahaha. Next, I'll paint the suction cups car color and aim it down a little more

He actually pulled into the street right after me, but in the opposite direction. So 5 seconds later I floored it. hahaha
This will be awesome for autocross videos. So glad I caught a great sun-down with my test runs. My next goal is some careful wet road sliding videos
