Here you can see the CFRP to the left and PETG ones to the right, however we're using ASA mostly (ASA and PETG are very similar). The CFRP has more of a satin look to it, PETG is shiny and ASA is somewhere in the middle. The CFRP are much stiffer if made at the same weight or they can be made equally stiff but less weight. The regular ones are good enough I think, but some people want something extra so we're offering that option. The CFRP needs a diamond nozzle in the printer to prevent wear $$$. The brake shield funnels below the CFRP ones are 10% lighter but a lot stiffer, but they are very light either way.

If you are planning to reinforce these, I would definitely go for that, let me know if there is any additional costs.
I believe a mold could be made out of these, but I don't have that knowledge to mess with GF or CF. Would just have to remove the chamfer were the hose connects.

The reinforcement (a layer of expoy resin on the back side) would be free of charge.

quality looks legit, can't wait to see pics installed by first member. I'm going to opt for the resin coating on mine when they are ready.

I'll ask each one that orders if they want the coat or not. As I said, I believe they will hold fine without it but applying a coat on the backside won't hurt and no one will see it anyway.

Not sure if I specified, but would prefer the strongest material option available, which I think is the CFRP.

Cheers,

The enclosure around the printer to keep the heat up worked a treat, the print looked great! This is MOTK's kit with a layer of epoxy resin freshly applied. I will ship this kit to him tomorrow.

Promised you an update. Right now we're waiting for the diamond nozzle to be able to print the CFRP that eggman has ordered. But we decided to print a duct in ASA while we were waiting, but we had a thunder storm shutting down the power and the UPS wasn't able to keep the printer going for long enough so we ended up with half a duct. I will print out the second half and fix it, paired with a not 100% duct from previous we could sell a set for cheaper if anyone would be interested in that, I just have to make it nicer looking first and reinforce it.

Also I sent MOTK's kit today:

As you know we've been waiting for some parts the last week for the CFRP printing, but they have all arrived. So we will soon be starting with Eggman's kit. Both my brother and me are back to work after the holidays so we're pretty busy right now. We will most likely install all the new stuff and start printing again this weekend.

I hope you won't need the Tow stickers though and the 3D-printed "WD" (Westersund Design) key ring might come to some use or maybe not. Something extra as a thanks for being the first to order.

The new components have been installed during the weekend and we've started to print the CFRP backing plate funnels, they weigh 65 grams each and are sturdy as f?!@! The CFRP looks so cool! These take 4+ hours each to print and the front bumper ducts take 40+ hours each.

Enjoy!

I've thought about this before, if anyone is interested I could make these for the exits in the front bumper ducts. You just insert them before putting on the hose. It will restrict air flow somewhat but it's a give and take I guess. It's up to you! There would be an additional fee for this option though.

Alright, I'll have my brother to do a testprint!

Update. After the first successful CFRP backing plate funnel we started printing 4. However the filament clogged the feeder tube or whatever it's called, it's some sort of plastic tube. The theory is that it didn't handle the extra heat the CFRP needed (even though it should), that tube is now changed to a titanium tube. If this doesn't work a new fan will be installed. These trail and errors are quite annoying with the new printer. Hopefully we're past that soon enough. Another try today.

The titanium tube didn't work as expected. Even though the printer is spec'd at 290 degrees celsius in printing temperature is seems the 265 degrees the CFRP requires is too much. The heat creeps up from the nozzle and eventually the feeder tube gets so hot it melts the filament in the feeder tube causing it to clog. An adapter is being printed to accomodate a new larger fan for the feeder tube and we'll see if that works.

Is this mainly directed towards guys that track their Z4M? I thought that the OE brake ducts were functional, at least a bit.
