HELP! Has anyone replaced their Vanos Filter?

I just did an oil change and was replacing the Vanos filter. Watched an ECS video and seemed easy enough. The kit came with a vanos filter, larger o-ring, and a small o-ring. Replacing the large o-ring and filter is no big deal, however the small o-ring must be pried off (as it was also done in the video).

Unfortunately there is a white plastic collar that is also beneath the small o-ring and broke the same time the o-ring did. I have no idea how someone could remove the small o-ring without breaking this collar.

Looking at parts schematics, the collar doesn't even appear in the diagrams. Now I don't know who to proceed. Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks!

I seem to remember from the videos, you're not supposed that break that part.
I don't think it's available separately.
A warning to others:
I've changed mine a few times, and I think it's mostly a scam.
The only time I've had any swarf was after breaking a Vanos exhaust hub tab.
Only change it after you've had some sort of abnormality that will produce swarf, like breaking a tab.

Thanks Guys! After going to the auto parts store and finding an identical collar for a power steering system then proceeding to break that too trying to get it on, they looked up a brand new Vanos bolt and some of the images show that collar as having a cut in it.

I don’t think it can go on without being split. Because of this, I just threw it back in the car with new o-rings, filter and split collar and so far so good. The 45 degree cut made it seem like I didn’t break it after all

swarf
swôrf/

noun: swarf

fine chips or filings of stone, metal, or other material produced by a machining operation.
"a curl of metal swarf"

Oh, and my Dimple magnetic oil drain plug came out with a pretty full beard after the hub tab breakage.
