me and my z4 (supercharged, brakes, and more...)

Hey guys,

some of you could know me from z4um and the one or other german forum. My name is Markus and i own since three years a 2.5i Z4. I'm from poland, live since my 4th birthday in germany, work as a mechanical engineer and will have my second home from September on in NYC :rocks:

The Z4 got some nice changes. An ASA supercharger (270hp), Movit Brakes (370mm 6 piston and 342mm 4 piston), adjustable anti roll bars (H&R), 19" M3 Wheels, a Dinan exhaust. And I'm a little proud about my strut braces, cause it's a construction by myself

Here some Pics. Hope you enjoy

Nice how much did the fabrication and materials cost on the strut bars and how much do they weigh? They look pretty light and strong

all braces and all screws together weight about 7 pounds. the costs... well not the cheapest, but cheaper than dinan, ac schmitzer or other stuff like that. I made some more of them for friends. The M GmbH tested them and found out, that just the two shorter braces increase the stiffness of the front part of the body about 40%

the two short braces in a Z4M

Sweet! The engine braces look similar to the Alutec ones as well.

The strut bar looks amazing. But why hinged? That basically makes the strut bar for looks only.

Hi GP20,

That's not correct. A brace is loaded on tensile and compressive stress. And it's screwed with M12 on both ends... that means the screws have a preloaded force of each 60000 Newtons.

We have tested the braces (mounted in car) on a body test bed from the M GmbH. They are so strong how they look

@ flyinggonzo,
Don't know the Alutec braces. you got a link or something?

I'm looking for a small, compact air-to-water intercooler. In form of a tube. In Germany I didn't find anything like that. Somebody an idea?

Here's a picture of another car with the Alutec braces. I have them installed on my car, but I've recently moved and can't find anything.
