Tough Situation

Well my story starts here.

http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=357942

Basically back in march i take the car in for a oil leak, no big deal right?

Wrong!

Dealer rips my engine apart and keeps it for nearly a month.

Leak fixed? Nope

Car has been back at the dealer 3 more times for an oil leak that no one can seem to fix right.(2 different dealers)

I have lost faith that the BMW techs(if you can call them that) have put my engine back together properly. As all of you know the S54 is no ordinary engine, it needs a bit of extra love.

BMW is currently investigating a buyback scenario for me.

Truth be told, the thought of the M coupe being gone bums me out, but at the same time I dont want to hold on to this car now that the engine has been ripped apart and not put back together right.

Update:Shes gone.

Here is the vin

OUCH! I wish you much luck... and you're local... let us know what stealerships not to go to! I personally take my cars to downtown La Jolla... in a shop called Marco Polo BMW. But since your car is still under warranty... I don't know what to tell you... and saying goodbye to an M Coupe is not easy...

They can't swap a new S54 in there? I'd think somewhere a replacement has to exist! I can totally understand not wanting it however with the piss-poor job these "techs" have done on the car. This is just the kind of thing Ocha is always warning about--that maybe one tech at a dealership has the skills to actually work on the S54--and it's probably more like 1 our of 5 dealerships if even that. EDIT: I went and read the original thread...Ocha was right in there with warnings and sadly was right.

Maybe they don't have a spare S54 and they'd like to put an S65 in instead?

Seriously, I can't even fathom how pissed off I'd be at not only the dealerships but at the total incompetence demonstrated time and again by the tech departments the BMWNA seems to simply tolerate as acceptable. The brand is taking a serious beating. ShitbrownCoupe, yours, Just2talented (that's where they screwed things up just like Ocha said would happen--and he has a huge oil leak and freakin' mess) and a whole bunch of others. It's beyond sad. I really feel for you buddy--this is simply terrible.

Try to turn into a lemon! Claim that it'll hurt the resale value. Use some tear drops, etc.
Do whatever it takes for them to buy that car back from you, and then perhaps put it towards another M coupe, or maybe even a newer M. Maybe M3?

The last thing you or BMW wants is anything that makes lemonade.

What you want is a nice buyback figure, for your dealer to work with, so you can pick out a fresh BMW to start over with.

Remember, you will get the best deal from them, if you stay with the brand.

Not a bad situation if you can have BMWNA buying back your car. You'll get to pick a brand new BMW at invoice price. Or they might find you a comparable used M-coupe and do a straight-up trade.

Funny, my car has a history at BMW Encinitas, although it's from when it was called Harloff BMW. I have to call them and ask for the service record, the PO left the card in the owner's manual binder.

When I was trying to find their website, I read a terrible review for Harloff/Encinitas... http://www.complaints.com/directory/2005/march/8/17.htm
and another on e90post
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50926

Guess i'll never be going there.

Good luck with the buyback, hope you find another car as great as the Z4MC.

wow holy crap, yeah theyre terrible, they cut the leather on my steering wheel, instead of replacing it they just fixed it. curbed a wheel , curbed my bumper, most of it was fixed but i was very unhappy to say the least.

I will never go back to them.

I am currently working with SD bmw on an ED for an e92 m3.

Not quite an E86 M but its as good as its going to get.

THEY CUT YOUR LEATHER AND CURBED YOUR CAR?! That is just careless!

I'm not even considering going there to look at their used z4mc now.

What color is your Z4's ext/int?
