Growing in size to make room for a smaller Z car actually makes sense to me because it will put the BMW numbering system back in order. (a z4 should be bigger then a 3 series, etc..), but i'm guessing most of us here would move over to a z2 if we had to buy a new car. I would hope that the z2 would come with a softtop tho, just to keep the weight down!

-I doubt the Z2 will get the 335 motor (at least in its current form), because Ms always get an engine unique to the M model line.
p.s. I'm glad as hell that I bought a Z4 MC when I did. I'm keeping it until the frame rusts through. |

the 335 is not an M engine. And if the 135 can have the bi-turbo, a Z2 3.0si can too. No one is even talking about a Z2 M variant.

I might be concerned that the added weight of the TTs will make the Z2 3.0 a better handling car than the Z2 3.5 because of how it will shift the weight balance in a car with such a short wheelbase. |

I think you'll see more & more applications of the N54 tt.

Here's what I think. I think if you drop the N54 TT in the Z4 3.0 right now with the M version only getting the 3.2 I-6, they are too closely matched from a HP perspective. Maybe in 09 if the the Z4M goes away for a couple years you'd see it, but I don't think you will before that happens.
Seems like this is the way they went with the 3 series, waiting for the S54 to go away to put the TT in, and then the next M3 had the V8. Probably will see a similar sequence with the Z series
