Congrats, very nice car. BTW how many kids? If one has three then to me, the minivan is by far, far and away the best tool for the job. They shit all over the bohemoth SUV unless you are towing.

PDK. I was torn about this but ultimately went with pdk because i want faster and it sounds so f1 during gear changes. That noise is pure bliss.

You can't go wrong with Porsche, I'm afraid a GT3 isn't in my future, I'm retired and my wife is about to so we likely won't be upgrading the toys anymore. Took the old 993 out for a 3 hour tour in the country yesterday.....just cruising. I only wound it out once getting onto the highway for a short run to the off ramp I needed. Pure bliss, but honestly an easy drive in the country on some twistys was just what I needed with all of this lockdown stuff.

Welcome to the club.

This is the kind of stories I love hearing, because I'm on the same path. A speed yellow 997 GT3 like you describe is my realistic dream car.

very nice pick up. can't go wrong with any GT3 spec. but i'm personally holding out for a manual car with buckets. so i'll probably be waiting for a while lol. wish I wasn't so picky.

any mods planned? aftermarket exhausts on these cars really make them sound like an F1.

Need some advice. If I can't get a M2 CS, I'm thinking about a Porsche. Thinking about a Cayman GT4 with PDK or waiting for a base 992 Turbo. Which one to choose? Cayman GT4 would be cheaper and weigh less, but I would worry about ground clearance. Is a Cayman GT4 a tight fit in the cabin, too low to the ground, too extreme for the roads? Base Turbo would have a lot more power but also much more expensive.

It sounds like a pretty sad story if you ask me, but for sure if you've been lusting after car X, by all means get it.

Will you track the GT3 or just Cars and Coffee?

Just weekend drives and Cars and Coffee. The Turbo would definitely depreciate a lot more than a GT4. I'm probably not getting a M2 CS due to lack of supply.

Nice looking car man. A personal friend has the same car in chalk but also manual. Amazing car indeed. I want one for sure lol... I probably will be looking for the 991.1 gt3 soon if all goes as I've planned. Enjoy your beautiful car.

GT4 has a "rough" ride but that's the point. The GT4 would be more similar to the M2 CS than the Turbo would be.

I would go GT4, hold for a few years, then if you still want a 992 Turbo buy one used 2-3 years down the road...let another sucker eat that massive depreciation.

That was a great read and a damn fine car you moved on to. Porsche’s are just so timeless and will never go out of style or favor. Congrats!

All 3 of those are very different. The M2cs makes no sense to buy if you look at how the m4cs did. just wait for the $20k discounts to pop up after the summer and lease one then.

Only you can answer the question on ground clearance. if you've had lowered cars before it shouldn't be a problem. can't imagine it being any worse than a lowered m3. 911 turbo vs 911 GT4/GT3 is the eternal question. just depends if you want power or a drivers car.

I am literally that guy dreaming of being able to afford a GT3 within the next few years. Loved the story and congrats!

Me too! A lot of it depends on how well Wall Street holds up during this recession, as I'm gambling on my "toy fund" stocks to stay strong.

I really want a 991 GT3 with the obligatory PDK-S, and then I'd road trip the hell out of that car, and will likely drive across country in it. I may get a 2017 or 2018 manual GT3, but would gladly own the 991.1 PDK-S.

If the timing is right, I'll be shopping late next year.
