Inspection items
Hi everyone,
Before I stored my car for the winter, my mechanic did a full inspection and he found the following: - both right and left front lower control arms and bushings need to be replaced (he said the arms and bushings come as one piece) - both right and left rear shock absorber top plates need to be replaced How much, including labour and parts, should I be charged? Thanks |

Control arm and bushings are 2 separate pieces. Control arm & ball joints are one.
Why just the top plates? What's wrong with them? I'm a bit confused by your mechanic. |

Hi B328iC,
Sorry, I meant the ball joints, As well, he said the top plates are loose in their attachment to the body of the car (I hope I am explaining it properly). Do you know what the charge should be for these items? Thanks |

As for the rears it would be nice to know if they are just loose or needing replacement. Again if needing replacement there are stage 1 kits that have all you need as a lot of things wear out around the same time and it's best to replace things while your in there. Kits for the rear run 2-300 as well. As for labor cost I can't help you there. I know It takes me a weekend to do each end of the car unless I get really ambitious and then I could get it done much quicker. So figure $6-800 in parts to totally take care of most of the standard wear items in the suspension. |

Vert or coupe? The rears a a bit more complicated to get to on the E85's.
