1. Disconnect iPod from cable 2. Remove battery cables, negative first 3. Touch battery cable terminals together (away from battery) for +5 seconds, a small spark is normal as this is stored power draining from the system. 4. Allow cables to remain disconnected for about 5-7 minutes 5. Reconnect battery cables onto battery, negative last. 6. Reboot iPod by pressing on MENU and CENTER buttons for +5 seconds and then reconnecting to the DICE cable after the reboot process is completed. Let me know if these steps correct the problem, if not - we'll proceed further.

He's right the manual is wrong. Tom, you may remember me calling you last week to verify the dip switch settings (all up) and pointing out that the manual shows incorrect settings.

There are 4 switches - are you referring to both banks?

My car switches are both UP (off), my iPod switch I followed the instructions and it said to put one UP one DOWN. So all 4 should be UP (off)?
I will try setting all my switched to UP letter today and doing the battery reset. Will post my results. Is the overriding of current song when browsing normal Tom? (separate question) |

Yes - all four should be up (OFF). Instructions are wrong according to Tom. I initially had them set according to instructions and had some problems navigating, which went away after setting all switches to OFF.

1. First verify you are in the correct text mode by pressing CD6/TRACK6, then pressing CD1 to exit that mode. 2. Press MENU>GPS NAVIGATION>MAPS while playing a song on your iPod. Use the screen toggle button (looks like 2 squares in the top left hand corner) to toggle between screens.

Just set all four to UP and unplugged my power, waiting a bit before I reinitialize everything.
Will report back with results, so the instructions are wrong them Tom since they say to put 1 out of the 4 DOWN? That's a bummer that it overrides kind of defeats the purpose of being able to "browse" |

I dont have navigation, just Business CD so I dont have the menu you're talking about is there a different procedure for my radio to keep it from overriding the current song being played when browsing? Thanks, gonna go plug everything back in right now with switches UP
Put all the switches to UP and reset everything, browsing seems exactly the same, when I'm listening to a song as soon as I hit CD2 (playlist) or CD3 (artist) it automatically starts playing a song from the first playlist or artist and replaces my current song. However, it doesn't repeat anymore but we'll see how that is after driving around. |

I'm not worried about the text display overwriting anything. What I mean is for instance I'm currently listening to a song and it's still playing. As soon as I hit CD2 which allows me to browse by playlist it automatically starts playing a song from that playlist, thus replacing the song I was originally listening to. The same goes for browsing with CD3, as soon as I hit it to browse by artist it starts playing a song from the first artist that shows up, as I go down the list it continues to replace the previous song with the next artist that I come up to while browsing. Is this changeable? Thanks, also changing the switches all UP didn't change anything for me in terms of usage but hopefully fixes the repeating

Just drove my car, hit the 10,000 mile mark, eek. The repeating started up again...still overrides the song I'm listening to if i try to browse. What now Tom?

Not at this time as we cannot recreate the problem in house. If BimmerZealot would like to bring his Z4 in, we can see in real time.

Hm, okay the playlist one makes sense but how bout the artist one is it the same? It definitely doesn't wait 3 seconds for me to keep scrolling before jumping it goes instantly, I'm guessing this is probably normal. If you guys were local I'd be more then willing too; but, too far for me, any chance its a faulty unit? Warranty? I might be interested in swapping for the original DICE unit as well, possible? Thanks

Same problem. . .
Hi Tom
I have my Dice in the Ipod mode (on/on). I find this mode easier to navigate with. But I as well am having the same problem with the Dice unit resetting my Ipod settings to : Shuffle - Albums and Repeat - One. I'll keep watching for updates on how to fix this problem. |
