Z4M 245/40/R18 rubbing (18x9 ET30)
so I pulled the trigger on some tires, got em mounted, but having front fitment issues.
I thought the front would fit with just a bit of extra camber but the tires are running against the fender liner in places I did not expect, on certain turn angles. any general advice? let it rub through the liner? pics incoming. PS lowered on coilovers. ~ -1.7 camber Last edited by filtercoffee; 11-15-2020 at 12:23 PM.. |

post car wash pic
View post on imgur.com the wheel/tire diameter is larger than I projected, since there's less sidewall stretch going from 235/40 to 245/40. |

Unfortunately, that is where everyone gets tire rub when going wider. Since I'm at stock ride heights, I'm only rubbing on full compression. my solution is to just stack a few electrical tapes in that area and replace it when it rubs through the tapes

I would not let them rub through the liners, they are f’ing expensive. I just replaced mine at 240 each!!!!!
Get the camber washers and remove the pins. Better to wear the tire than the liner. Or change to a wheel that doesn’t rub. Liners are important to protect the lamps, horn, harnesses, etc. |

yikes! haha. based on where the rubbing is occurring, I'm not sure more camber will help. I give it a shot if the rubbing continues.
btw, check ebay for OEM parts next time, some dealers sell parts on there at a reasonable price. Last edited by filtercoffee; 11-15-2020 at 12:14 PM.. |

My liners tuck inside the the fender lip where yours are shown as outside.
Is this how it came from the factory?

Not sure, yours is more likely to be correct since this mine has had the liners replaced at some point. Maybe that would reduce the rubbing on that side.

Could be as much as a quarter inch difference so would likely solve the rub up front.

My car is my joy so was not going compromise even in items like liners, when I see a car with missing or chewed liners in my mind is an indication or carless. Damn, I have even replaced rusted hardware that no one can see. |

ah you're absolutely right.
update: here's a thread on the M vs non-M fender liner, in case anyone is curious to know more https://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1307429 Last edited by filtercoffee; 11-16-2020 at 12:54 PM.. |

As others mentioned, get a different tire size (245/35/18) OR increase ride height. I also had a rubbing issue when I crammed 275s up front, but after bringing the car back up to stock-ish height, rub issues went away

I am also looking at changing out my wheels to ET30 18"x9" APEX EC-7's
I would then wrap them in Michelin PS4S 255/35-18 Lastly, I would run street camber plates in the hopes that the front tires will not rub. However, after reading this thread I am concerned. I am at stock ride height and I plan on staying there. Is your car on stock ride height? Were you able to get this issue fixed? |

I'm lowered so I can't say for sure about stock ride height. I am living with a reduced turning radius for now.

Though it'd probably be harder to tell, but I've been curious how in a controlled situation these two would be, 225 or even 235 width fronts with the M caster vs 255 width fronts on non m caster. When I was deciding on power flex bush for my fcab you can pick either from power flex, but with already being my current stance I was figuring it'd be even more rubbing on the fenders than I already am so decided to stay with oe placement for the non m. I doubt it but wonder if anyone's put the non M bush to the M to reduce caster as they went wider. |
