Thanks Rick!
It's so rare to see 300 year old sites in Canada. Quebec City is quite unique. We spent 3 nights there, at hotel--Fairmont Chateau Frontenac...

I've forgotten how to upload photos here. perhaps the file size is too large.

Here's a link to the gallery that this is in.

Wow! Fascinating as always Rick. Not only are your pictures spectacular, but the writing that goes along with them is magical as well. It is so detailed but yet still manages to give room for interpretation and imagination for the reader. Please add me to your book buying list also . I would love to have a compilation of all your wonderful adventures.

Take care and hope to see more of your trips!

Al

apex,

Glad you enjoyed 'em! I wasn't sure what to expect with this last-minute, "home-made" route, but it turned out to have a ton of interesting things to see. And many of the roads were natural Z4 turf, so it was a fun drive in all respects.

Dave,

To display a picture, you just have to put the link in-between the following codes: . Et voila, Le Chateau Frontenac!

BTW, your other photos from Quebec City are great, and I hope other readers will take the time to have a look at them.

Thanks for posting the links, and I hope you won't be snowed in too soon!

Al,

Hey, thanks for the feedback! You're definitely on the list for the book.

I'm a little overdue for a Z4 trip, with work having gotten in the way of fun for the last few weeks. With luck I'll get over to the Eastern Shore of Maryland this weekend. The fall colors are probably long gone, but maybe I can find some nice, depressing, advance-of-winter scenes!

My wife had me stand .... over there. I took this picture. She had me turn and face the camera. She took my picture.
Showed it to me (wonder of digital cameras.)
The building I was right in front of had a "red light" in the window! Right over my head in the picture.

Chateau Frontenac (Boardwalk is under construction)

Cruise Ship arriving....must of been really cold on deck!

Cruise Ship at night from the Chateau...

I was a Navy brat. I love being near the sea. It was incredible good fortune having a room on the river side.
In 1966, my first visit to Quebec City, I sailed from Halifax Nova Scotia via Newfoundland to Quebec City on H.M.C.S. Bonaventure. That was our last aircraft carrier. 20,000 tons. Very small in the real world....It was an incredible voyage. My Father was a Captain in the Canadian Navy. R.I.P.

We returned to Toronto and traded our '03-M3/Cab/SMG--Dinan, for an '07 335 Cab. Sorry to see the M3 go; but the '07 is a heck of a car!
Car a couple before it was an '06 M Roadster. ( I know the years don't add up; in between after a health scare for me I had an '06 Vette. )

Best,
DaveL

Rick--it's coming! Here's proof we found it during our Quebec trip, a ways east (Chicoutimi)

Car we took was our S5 with P-Zero's on! It did incredibly well. Roads were really greasy! One driver had a bad crash. His vehicle ended up at the fence, across a deep ditch, a long way away. They had to use jaw-of-life to get him out.

Rick are you familiar with Mad Maps?
We found them at Deal's Gap at the store...bought a bunch of them since then.

They have maps for States, and regions. They have other maps--Get Outta Town maps. So you can buy a map for a city such as Atlanta, and it has routes set for motorcyclists. And we like the same roads.

That year, before we had any Mad Maps, we travelled from Ontario to the Skyway Parkway, then the Blue Ridge Parkway, on to Deal's Gap, and then to Atlanta. We were in our Boxster, and had a great run. It would be fun to get to an area and take the runs to see the area better.

Take care,
DaveL
